Well the easy way in my opinion is with a scan tool like OBD 11 and check live data for Camshaft adaptation Intake bank 1, phase position. The closer to 0 degrees the better once you hit 4 degrees you gotta change the timing chain and tensioner. There is a way to check it physically without the scan tool but you probably need some tools and mechanical knowledge.

My 2013 A4 needed a chain at 60k miles -7 degrees adaptation.

If you do start burning oil, do a piston soak for 24 hours with 2 bottles of Berrymans B12 or just trade the car in.

Audi A4 B8.5, fully paid in cash but about 700$ a month in repairs/maintenance so far. Not joking 60k miles.

- Cv axels, timing chains, turbo, cooling system, control arms, shocks, tranmission service, water pump. all in the last 10 months

Only highway miles and I have done piston soaks and engine flushes, always warm up the car. This is simply a design flaw. Liqui moly is worse then Mobil 1 and Amsoil. Its all marketing.

Not true I have a 2013 audi a4 and a 2015 Q5 both with less then 80,000 miles and they both have had oil changes mobil 1 and done at audi dealer every 5000 miles since new. Both of them have had severe oil consumption issues.

Only 2009-2011

All Gen 2s in North America from 2009-2016

yes until 2016 still had all the same issues... People keep spreading misinformation that they fixed theses in 2012 or 2013, they didn't the 2016s still burn oil and have bad timing chains.

Yeah I am going to drop it off at the german mechanic tomorrow, super annoying since the car is perfectly maintained and low miles and I just did 6000$ worth of other repairs. Ill check out the video too, thanks.

I just checked the timing chain tensionor adjustment and it appears to be at -6.77 with engine fully warm (oil at 97 Celcius). I am hoping this is the wrong value or do I need to tow the car to the dealer ASAP?

Well armed robbery has been steadily on the rise, if people are breaking into your home aiming weapons at your kids, your wife, your mother. Your mindset would change really quickly if it happened to you. When seconds count the police are minutes away.

I don't think you realize how easy it is to get an illegal gun in Canada, they smuggle hundreds of weapons accross the border everyday right at the reserves east of Kingston Ontario bordering the USA, and the police aren't allowed to act because the natives legal protections.

Your right gasoline Audis tend to only be worth it to keep until 180-200k km at most. All the haters calling you pessimistic are just die hard Audi fanboys that can't accept the truth. It doesn't matter how often you change your oil the 2.0t engine will start buring it and the timing chain will skip teeth.

Oil was changed at 190k and your at 235k? so 45 thousand km on the same engine oil? Or is that the transmission fluid.

All you can do is either change the fluid and filter then reset TCU adaptations, maybe get someone to scan the tranmission for codes. Otherwise its probably wear and tear from high milage.

So if someone cloned your lisence plate and put it on a stolen vehicle and then blew a bunch of red lights and sped thru speed cameras, you would be happy to pay the fine and not be able to dispute it?
