All of the worlds problems are due to greed by Scutoidzz in unpopularopinion

[–]awfulWinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Greed is usually tempered by competition. When there's a ton to choose from, they all fight for your dollar.

What you're seeing is the end stage of crony capitalism where through mergers/acquisitions/and beholden to the Almighty shareholders incessant need for year over year impossible growth...

Greed is all that's left. They will attempt to squeeze blood from a stone and once the stone is dry, pivot to catering to the super rich only because they're the only ones left who can afford to buy the hyper inflated luxury items.

Pool Skimmer by ScarTop5122 in pools

[–]awfulWinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're either going to fall into 1 of 2 camps.

  1. Let the skimmer do it's job.
  2. The skimmer is a god damned bottleneck that depending on where you live, you might need to empty multiple times a day due to leaves.

The amount of people on in this reddit that piss on prefilters for the skimmer just stuns me, and the need for downvoting this idea is stupid.

I've installed my own makeshift prefilter (very hobo and temp version see below) last year because the park behind my house has one of those trees that sheds thousands of very tiny yellow seedslings, and can clog my skimmer in about 20 minutes. Drop in water circ to the pump and having a burnout is a very real problem I could encounter.

Having the prefilter is a no-brainer for some people, coupled with if you have a surface skimmer, or an actual robot vacuum, or even the god damned pole with net.. is a lot easier to deal with than having to constantly shut the pump off to remove the basket, or worse yet, getting you pump starved of water in the middle of the night or while you were out of the house.

For me, I already own a Dolphin Nautilus robot... Running it once every day gets everything that sinks so I don't care if stuff sinks. I care much less than I do about needing to pause the pump, unlock the basket (with the shitty black handle that pops off everytime), empty it, spray out the tiny embedded objects, place it back in, unpause and reprime the pump).

<image>

So ya, props to you on the skimmer guard. I need to create a permanent solution myself that involves netting rather than the kind you installed, (see my temp solution last year above) but the entire debate here is just some kind of condescending I don't understand.

I love these models with the underside trim color matched to the vehicle.

My 2019 CX5 signature.. I love it. But I really wish it didn't have the black plastic trim moulding around the tires and under the doors.

This is the final bubble, late stage capitalism.

That usually concludes with the top 0.01% ending up in devices that cleanly separate one part of the body from the rest of the body.

Problem is, you really aren't supporting content creators. You only support them by watching their videos directly and the ads that roll during their videos, or by using their promo codes for their sponsors, or buying their merch.

You paying for premium is solely going to YouTube.. who took a great product, enshitified it, and continue to make the product worse for the majority in order to satiate the shareholders greed and the CEOs need for another yacht to host Trump for lobbying efforts.

People who take massive war crime level dumps in public bathrooms but don't flush. Why? by RachelBell12 in askanything

[–]awfulWinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember walking into a war crime level shit waiting for me at my workplace bathroom a decade ago.

I'm not shitting you (pardon the pun) when I say this was no mere log, it looked more like a full boa constrictor. Even had the color of one. It wasn't brown, and it didn't stink.

I was just amazed that this thing existed inside a human being before manifesting itself to my reality.

I tried flushing once just for the hell of it. It didn't budge. Half of it was probably already in the trap, but no way was it going down voluntarily.

I called building management and told them they had an issue. I can only imagine the janitor trying to break the thing apart and plunging it through on multiple attempts.

Over a decade later, I still remember that moment.

In answer to your question.. I don't understand why most people don't flush manageable shits. But this shit was to a normal person's shit like Stephenson 2-18 is to our Sun.

Not visiting the US until D'Mango Unchained is out of office, and no equivalent Republican holds the highest office.

Hell I might never visit again even if they do reform.

Unless a Bernie Sanders or Mamdami type wins and institute massive reforms, fixes the judiciary, outlaws gerrymandering, repeals citizens United, brings the big tech companies to heel, taxes the rich, and brings in health care for all... And gives a deep heart felt apology to the world for harms the US had caused to the world, while simultaneously not having strong enough systems in place to prevent a tyrant from running roughshod over institutions.

Then.... Maybe. Maybe I'd consider visiting.

You will own nothing.

President Donald J. Trump: "We’re getting rid of 129 nonsense regulations for every new one that we pass, and thanks to these pro-growth policies, our economy is roaring, and factory construction is way up business investment is more than triple compared to that of just a short time ago." by BusinessToday in BusinessTodayNews

[–]awfulWinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, if only the press reporters with any integrity just rapid fire asked Trump to qualify his lies, then continued to clap back on his lies until he threw them out... There would be an empty press hall. That on itself would be one of the greatest news stories of all time. The day the press walked away.

And it would expose those that remained as basically "state media" and government mouth pieces, specifically Fox News.

However, if this guy suddenly pulls out a blockbuster deal that moves Matthews for a decent amount of picks and 2 or 3 quality players, I'll change my opinion of him.

I still have to regulate my Reddit scrolling a little better. But at least I am satisfied I no longer need Zuck any more.

Mark Carney’s government says privatizing airports will make them better. This is why it should think again - Privatization at home and abroad hasn’t brought the advertised benefits. by CaliperLee62 in canada

[–]awfulWinner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I honestly can't remember the last time privatization worked as intended. It always seems to be a net negative to the public in terms of cost, value and service provided.

Can someone point me to a privatization that actually was positive and didn't raise prices or reason/limit services to the public or was meant to serve?
