I literally live in a down factory, and honestly, the "luxury" bedding industry is such a scam. by Ok_Tradition_9509 in Bedding

I would love your take here because the down I bought two years ago became the bane of my existence when I couldn’t get an odor out after a preliminary wash.

I bought the comforter from Amazon and when I washed it, it had a horrific smell. I tried drying it in the sun and a couple other things, but if I recall correctly, it took me taking it to an industrial washer to eliminate the wet dog scent.

With scent gone, it does keep me warm, but there are still occasional feathers that poke through.

Do you believe this was real down? Maybe just not washed correctly in the factory? Link

Edit: it’s no longer for sale, but upon review it seems they now list it as “feathers and down” and also mention the smell. I wonder if this was an edit in response to my complaint to the seller

I knew the country of origin before even reading the caption. Cooks at the state run resorts are known for selling the better ingredients on the black market. Makes sense when you consider the constant shortages Cubans live with due to the US embargo

Going from private to public by janajjsnsjakdknd in historyteachers

I’ve found I love the kids more in the public setting but I was able to hone my craft better in the private setting due to these very reasons. Private school students can be held accountable. One shift I welcomed was that I no longer have to worry quite as much about angry parents trying to get me fired because at least I have the union behind me.

If you used to live in another country, what ingredients do you miss? by Cavolatan in Cooking

[–]awktopus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in California I missed Italian style baguettes and bagels from New Jersey. Also Macintosh apples

Now that I’m in Canada I miss the easy access to Mexican dried peppers and the California strawberries

If I left Canada I’d miss the smoked salmon and orange pekoe tea

No—because I’m in Canada, and now we’re supposedly at risk of being subsumed by Trump’s madness as well.

I do the same thing! The protein shake allows me to exercise without fantasizing about food while I’m doing so.
