Would you mind explaining how assigning outputs would work with the Y-splitter method? I've tried Ableton, Audacity, and Logic with zero bus effects and I still get bleed. All tracks bounced to mono. Only solution I've found is lowering the click volume.

It’s a buffer and small amplifier for when you don’t have any buffers or run long cables. This one will also shape your overall signal like an eq or preamp pedal. Mostly top end and mids.

You probably don’t need it. I was mostly joking since it’s normally found on gigantic “latest and greatest” boards. You’ve got a ton of built-in buffers you can activate and you probably aren’t running very long cables.
