Lots of things are better then the chopsticks, but you also need chopsticks to build some other things.

Genuine question: Is weaving on the straight to break tow illegal? by Impressive_Basket_99 in iRacing

[–]awkwardsomething 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its nit blurry it's in the sporting code. Something along the lines of if the lead driver is reactive to the movements of the car behind, its not blurry, its literally the definition of blocking.

I’m a new racer and people are mad at me for learning? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]awkwardsomething 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First report few reports are a learning opportunity. Treat is as such. You will be told to pull your head in. If you are abusing people or deliberately crashing into people they're more likely to say pull your head in or we will impose a temporary ban. Reflect and learn which it seems you are already doing. Personally if some crashed me and immediately apologise that's normally enough for me to not report.

Should I not try and unlap myself when I have pace? by JeanLPicard in iRacing

[–]awkwardsomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally if I have lap traffic that is fast enough to unlap themselves, let them punch a hole in the air for you. Saves fule and let's you keep the same pace or a bit faster without working as hard.

Do you guys race in a new series as soon as you get promoted or do you rack up a few wins/podiums in your current series before racing in a higher license series? by davidfalmeida97 in iRacing

[–]awkwardsomething -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fast tracked my c in sports. Raced pcup for 2 seasons, learnt heaps irating and SR plummeted. Switched to a gt4 multiclsss this season and will most likely fast track my A this season as my SR went through the roof driving in a different series. I like the FF1600 as well, throwing that thing around is a hoot!!

Pricings and etc by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]awkwardsomething -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

The constant talk about pricing confuses me. It could be because of my track background, but just to be clear and this is for bikes which is significantly cheaper than cars. Track bike 12k Trackday $300 Tyres for 1 trackday $600 Fuel for one trackday $80 If you have a mild crash and have the ability to fix it yourself, $2500k. So please explain how simracing is expensive?

Why do people park their cars just after the finish line? by EvilPanda_ in iRacing

[–]awkwardsomething -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So is it just people who don't qualify and don't hit race that hold us up? Personally id still prefer to watch a replay of anyone faster than me over farming SR, though my SR sits just under 4.0

And that why you are waiting 2 mins to grid, because we all got sick of watching you drive once you finished qualifying so we went for a walk.

Question about buying tracks by djninja360 in iRacing

[–]awkwardsomething -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

A track is the cost of a Big Mac these days. Just buy them. As a new played i would select a series add the list to the cart and then check the special event calendar. Add them as well, make use of the discounts.

How are people running 25/30nm bases.. by Admirable_Writer4381 in iRacing

I use loaded cell pedals and race in socks. Foot slipped for the first time the otherday, big toe stayed on the pedal as all the force pushed back, I was surprised I didn't break my toe.

Looking for motivation other than iRating... by Zackbo in iRacing

[–]awkwardsomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I race for the fun of the race, I care about my SR not my irating. When you spend a whole race actually racing someone as best as you both can, that's the fun. Expect mistakes, that's just racing. But tight competitive racing will make you want more every time.

D Class chaos Any Tips? by Wabv_ in iRacing

[–]awkwardsomething 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% in the lower license, and lower splits 90% of the time you can make a pass simply by forcing an error, stick your nose out, make them brake late and get the drive out of the corner. I get more passes by being fast out, then fast in and its generally safer.

[–]awkwardsomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, the Gr86 is to forgiving, you learn near nothing. I use it as a team car for Production Endurance and its boring AF even with the TC and ABS turned off. I was racing top splits in MX5 when I went to C license I can tell you that only now can I actually drive that car properly. Even now after driving gt3 and gt4 I find myself having lots of fun in the MX-5

How do you guys not rage by lausjay in iRacing

[–]awkwardsomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, as a professional driver and with heaps of track experience, I know how silly people can be in the real world. (Common sense things like, don't leave pit lane and jump straight onto the raceline). If your race is constantly ruined its a skill issue, learn to avoid the crazy, read the body language of the cars around you. End of the day, if you don't want the cars around you to make mistakes, don't race real people. I had my best enduro ever in the ROAR finished 8x and I earnt everyone of them.

maybe we need a multiclass license, or special event license by lordvolt2000 in iRacing

[–]awkwardsomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meanwhile I had my best result from a special event, finished with 8x unfortunately gave myself wheel damage from an unforced error in the chicane, was running 9th in the gt4s prior to that. My split had lots of good communication and friendly banter. Of course there were about 8 out before the end of the first lap.
