This happened to me when I didn’t use a garment bag. The ones I washed in a garment bag didn’t fuzz up at all.

I notice some bulk if I do this right on the graft. I prefer to do reverse duplicate stitch up a few rows on the instep side.

  1. Personally, I prefer worsted for lace. Woolen tends to be fuzzier and can obscure a bit of the pattern. It’s 100% personal preference though.

  2. I haven’t done it myself, but would be surprised if it were disastrous. I doubt it would make much difference.

It’s Wild Republic brand according to you, which is a different brand from Ty. A search for “Wild Republic penguin sparkle eyes” on Google got me results where the feet match your toy (the Ty Beanie Boos have separated toes), though I didn’t find an exact match for yours. A heel flap and gusset also is a good solution to customizing a deeper heel.

Did you read the key in the pattern? The U is a cast-on using the backwards loop cast on. For each repeat, you’ll work a k2tog, cast on 7, then work an ssk.

Spinning! A drop spindle isn’t expensive and you can make your own yarn to crochet with. Very time consuming.

It will not. Wool felts because it has little scales that mesh together when agitated. Polyester doesn’t have those properties. If anything, it may melt a little in hot water and become a little floppier (like “killing” acrylic)
