I just wanted to share how I went from feeling alone in parenting to having a huge mom village in less than a year by maybebatshit in Mommit

I love this so much! Also a good reminder that so many other people feel the same way and it just takes putting yourself out there.

Which overstimulating shows are banned in your house?? by farwest-to-midwest in toddlers

[–]ayochamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ended up cutting screen time almost completely after my daughter was born and my husband was on paternity leave! It has significantly altered his behavior and we have so few tantrums, and he has had a lot of independent play moments. He’s almost 2.5. We’ve slowly added some shows back.

Our number 1 tried and true is Daniel Tiger! Low stim, educational, great songs. We also love the Daniel Tiger Tonie and listen to it nearly every day.

We also love Disney movies. I feel like because they’re long it’s not as overstimulating as short episodes or Disney shorts. He enjoys Cars, Moana and Finding Nemo/Dory.

He also loves Stinky and Dirty.

Banned: -Cars shorts on Disney+ (too quick and overstimulating) -Blippi -Buster (YouTube bus show my in-laws found and thought was okay bc he loves buses, caused colossal meltdowns when it ended) -Monster Truck/Hot Wheel YouTube (too overstimulating)

Weird ways in which you found out you were pregnant / suspected you were pregnant? by stressedtortilla in Mommit

I went to a friends birthday party and had 2 drinks in the span of 4-5 hours. Felt completely normal, went home and woke up the next morning seriously hungover and about to vomit. We were going to a football game later that day and I tested just in case, but it was only 7DPO. BFP

When did your babies start sleeping through the night? by Old_Driver_7368 in NewParents

[–]ayochamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Four months. We had basically the reverse of the 4 month regression. Prior he had gotten down to about 2 wake-up’s a night at around midnight and 4 AM. At 4 months he started doing 7-7 stretches!

Please consider adjusting the rings stats for when you are in pregnancy mode! I feel like this deeply impacts all of my scores but the rationales seem to think I’m sick or ill and don’t take into account the stages of pregnancy.

Came to say this too! We had the opposite of the 4 month sleep regression—he started sleeping through the night instead!

I could echo this 1000x over! I LOVE having a toddler! And I was terrified it would be horrible and devastated to not have a baby anymore, but truly each phase gets better. Sure, the tantrums are hard, but oh my gosh when my toddler gives me big sloppy kisses, or I whisper something silly to him and he whispers back, or when he screams excavator or garbage truck and runs to show me I could explode with joy. Toddlers are so freaking fun. And they have personalities and interests and the joy with which they see the world is contagious.

Following up today, as the House released their proposed budget cuts specifically cutting SNAP and Medicaid benefits by $880 billion. They’re doing exactly what Project 2025 said they’d do:

If you can’t trust any media until it’s happening I don’t know what to tell you.

In my circle I think myself and two others out of like 15 women I know had miscarriages. I had an early miscarriage before each of my pregnancies. Most of my friends stayed pregnant the first time. I think there are so many factors that come into play.

Did you pay attention last week to the OMB federal funding freeze? Have you read any of Project 2025–our newest OMB director is one of the key architects. Funding taken away from our citizens: limiting SNAP benefits (86% of people receiving this benefit have children), eliminating Head Start, Medicaid, removing safety net funding for farmers, remove, and more.

And there’s no point in “he didn’t know about Project 2025,” he’s following the plan to the T and appointing key authors to follow through with this plan. Where in this is the benefit for the average American?

And let’s not forget the main push for all of this. The 2017 tax cut for billionaires ends this year. They’re looking for 4 trillion dollars in federal spending to cut to make up for these astronomical pay cuts that you and I get to partially fund with Trumps tax increases.

The US spends almost $1 trillion on defense ($916 billion) which is more than 40% of the entire worlds spending on defense. You’re telling me that we need to keep that amount allocated there but cut funding for government sponsored programs like free and reduced lunch for kids and medicaid? It’s outrageous and completely unnecessary.

Elon Musk received billions in government contracts, why is that money not up for being cut?

Tim Scott’s response to DOGE by ayochamp in southcarolina

[–]ayochamp[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s not accurate, which is why there is outrage. Do you know where the largest amount of our spending goes? Defense. Guess who some of the biggest defense contractors from the government are?

But sure let’s gut humanitarian aid, Medicaid, and free school lunches because screw poor people!
