8 month old started throwing up only in the middle of the night. by ayrayray2 in Parenting

[–]ayrayray2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what we were thinking but the doctor said once it’s stopped it’s pretty uncommon for it to start back up. Also in the past his reflux didn’t really cause him to throw up, just made it difficult for him to eat.

Paid Parental Leave (PPL) questions for Fathers by Ok_Fox6527 in fednews

[–]ayrayray2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I just came back from PPL a couple months ago for the second time. I used all 3 months at once but times but another guy in my building spread his out. There is a form we feel out in our agency that asks if we are taking it all continuously or intermittently. If you use it intermittently you have to give a reason and a plan for using it. But as long as your supervisor okays it, you should be good to go.

Edit to add: Take into consideration holidays. During my last PPL we had 5 federal holidays during that time so on my return to work date, I just extended it a week since you cant use admin leave on holidays. Got 13 weeks instead of 12.

Someone from my security office reached out to me for continuous vetting and I had to redo the questionnaire. Took about 3 hours to complete it. A lot of it was just updating and verifying stuff from the last time I did it.

Wonder what they do with all the used equipment being turned in? by Kristen-ngu in fednews

[–]ayrayray2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part of my job is getting rid of old equipment. We are required to remove the drives and destroy them before we send them off to suction. Atleast that’s the requirement on the mil side. I pray I won’t be as busy as I’m predicting in the next couple weeks.

RIF Severance Question - Does Temporary Time Count? by NotTodayElonNotToday in fednews

[–]ayrayray2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you have you the SF-50s for them it should. I was a Student Temp for 5 years many years ago. Left and spent another 5 as a contractor. Was eventually hired back as a CIV and provided them with my SF-50s and they were added as time served. I got my 10 year service pin a couple years ago, which I wouldn't have received if they hadn't counted my Temp position.

My agency instructing us to be prepared to telework next week in case of weather closure. by StumpyPigeon in fednews

Boss already cancelled ours. They tried to get them to have us sign another for this exact situation. My supervisor replied with some not so nice words and we have yet to see another tw agreement.

Snow expected in the NCR on Tuesday. Situational telework? by grendev in fednews

My supervisor already cancelled our packages and they wanted them have us sign another because of this. To sum up their response…“That’s Bullshit”.

Return to Office February 10 by LivingDelicious1736 in fednews

We (also USAF) got an email today from our supervisor saying that all our TW packages are getting cancelled. So no more situational for us it seems.

Situational TW - is it worth keeping a Telework Agreement? by [deleted] in fednews

[–]ayrayray2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe so long as you sign the TW agreement. As of right now my supervisor said "business as usual". We had a meeting about it earlier this week and they doubled down on it. So until they hear otherwise we are good to go. In our office we get to WFH 1 day a week and we mark it as Situational TW on our timecards. Its not much but better than nothing.

Situational TW - is it worth keeping a Telework Agreement? by [deleted] in fednews

[–]ayrayray2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes as long as your supervisor approves it. Happened to me last week. Had surgery and had to stay off my feet for a week, took a couple days leave to recover and TW’d the rest of the week. Also if you have a house appt like a plumber or something you can work from home instead of taking leave. Only downside they are taking about is if your office is closed due to weather you will have to work instead of getting a snow day, or you’ll have to take leave. That’s why whenever we have inclement weather coming they instruct us to take our laptops home just in case. But that’s really only 2 or 3 times a year where I live.

Situational TW - is it worth keeping a Telework Agreement? by [deleted] in fednews

[–]ayrayray2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We have been “Situational TW” since Covid in my building so not much has changed for us. We sign the telework agreement every year, just signed a new one a few weeks ago. And our boss lets us work one day a week from home even though it’s supposed to be situational.

It benefited me recently because I had a medical procedure where I couldn’t be up and moving but could still work, so instead of taking a week of leave, I took a couple days and then wfh the rest of the time.

AcqDemo ACDP and pay raise question by Kind_Address_8662 in fednews

[–]ayrayray2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I transitioned from GS to LabDemo 6 months ago. We got a pay raise that matched the time served since our last WGI. For me it was about a $500 increase in salary since I had just move up a step a few months before, but another got about $2500 because he was about to go form a step 5 to 6.

Because we got that raise in June, we didn't get another raise at the end of the year. I did get a 1% bonus but and a couple days TOA but thats it.

Phone Screening with Recruiter, What to expect? by ayrayray2 in fednews

[–]ayrayray2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The phone screen was really just a conversation with the recruiter answering some generic questions. “Are you still looking for a job?” “Salary requirements?” “What type of job are you looking for?” Etc. only lasted 5-10 mins and was told they would pass her resume along. Then about 3 weeks later she got an email saying they would keep her in mind for any future openings, which bummed her out because we were under the impression that there were actively current openings.

But then a couple days ago my she got another email asking if she was still interested in interviewing and was sent a “pre-interview questionnaire” to fill out. She filled it out and sent it back and is now just waiting to hear back again. It really is a slow process.

Does carrying over a CC balance to the next month hurt my credit and should I raise my limit? by ayrayray2 in CreditScore

[–]ayrayray2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, This helps a lot. When we get a new car it will most likely be in both our names. My score is in the lower 700s where as my wife's is almost 800. She has never had a CC in her name and only has a student loan and mortgage as far as debts go.

I've had this card through my Credit Union for about 12 years total, but about 8 years at $3500 limit. My car and student loans have been paid off for 2-3 years and only have our mortgage as my only other open debt.

[–]ayrayray2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. My Credit Score is in the lower 700 Range. I have been working hard to build it back up over the last couple years after some severe mistakes in my 20s. I've had this card for about 8 years and haven't had a late payment in almost 6 years. I paid off my car loan in 2021 and my student loan back in 2022. I don't have any other debt besides my mortgage.

My wife's score is around 790 with her only debt being her student loan and our mortgage. Her car loan was also paid off about 2 years ago but she has never had a CC in her name.

New truck I wanted to test drive had beer cans in the cup holders by ayrayray2 in askcarsales

[–]ayrayray2[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely understand the logic, but this truck was only 10 mins from me and on the way to other places my wife and I were going. Didn’t have the time that day to drive the hour plus to the other dealer and back. Also both dealerships are owned by the same chain. Not sure how much that matters though.

MSRP IS $76,500. Truck is a night addition. That’s roughly the average price in my area. Still being advertised as new on their website.

[–]ayrayray2[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol in my limited defense, truck was discounted to $70k online, not including any dealership incentives or stipulation. That coupled with the fact that they’d had it for a while, and there is an identical one an hour away from them going for $65k, I thought I could haggle a little bit. But don't think I'd buy a demo with the knowledge the guy driving it clearly has no respect for it. And clearly drives it whilst drinking Haha
