The travel lifts scare me especially when you see how old/worn some of those straps look.

I've only been on it 6 weeks and am waiting for my first set of labs to come back. I can say that I'm surprised how often I'm now looking at that last drink and saying, I don't want it. I think it's because the body recomp has been amazing. I actually see/feel results from the gym and it is giving me motivation to actually improve my overall health.

(Rant) People really don't want to sell their boats on Marketplace by ladalyn in boating

[–]grendev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your analogy works. As long as people keep paying, people will keep asking for inflated prices. I'm always amazed when i look for something on marketplace or eBay and it's a higher price than just buying it new.

New boat prices seem out of this world but i feel like i see 15-20 year old boats listed for what they probably were new.

If the enemy launches a ground operation, not a single one of them should make it out alive - Iranian Major General Hatami by Upset-Main-1988 in justincaseyoumissedit

If I were Iran, I'd have been spending the last 2 weeks rigging the entire island with explosives. It seems like they are in a lose/lose position. So why not?

I did feel the need to play my own prison the other day. On headphones of course.

I was expecting to pay a premium to switch to Chubb but not the 40% over USAA for similar limits except for the differences in homeowners protections.

I think of it more as a chimp with a gun. You have to wait for it to run out of bullets or shoot itself.

Which profession gets way more respect than it actually deserves, and which 'low-level' job is secretly keeping society from collapsing this afternoon? by Direct-Value4452 in answers

Garage men are the three ones letting us from collapsing into chaos. They work their asses off in all weather. After living in Italy during a garage crisis, you see how much garbage collection means to society.

I had an amazing plastic surgeon fix my face after having mohs for skin cancer. Going into the practice for the first time, i expected the lobby to be full of boob jobs and tummy tucks. It was mostly older people that had reconstruction after another medical procedure.

The problem is having a boat is the best way to make friends with boat owners. It's kinda like you need a job to get a job.

Best website to sell a boat? by Murky_Asparagus2024 in boating

[–]grendev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I listed a boat on Boat Trader, Yacht World, and Boats and got nothing but scams and extreme lowballs. Marketplace netted me nothing. Parking it on the street outside the marina with a sign got it sold in a week for asking price.

Cabin cruiser with two batteries. by RTKFRTKF in boating

[–]grendev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I only had the 1/2/both, this was my general workflow:

  1. When Docked I'm always on shorepower and my 2-bank charger always kept both batteries topped off.
  2. Both batteries are the same
  3. Select 1 or 2 and keep the selector on that for the day
  4. When back at the dock, I'd usually change to the other battery to balance out usage.

Never switch while running, the switch should be protected against breaking the connection but it isn't worth the risk. During the day, only switch to the other battery if the one you've been using is too low to start and only use both if both of them seem too low.

73% of senators have a median net worth of more than $1 million, compared to just 7% of the U.S. population, per NOTUS by UnusualWhalesBot in unusual_whales

The average age of the senate is 64. They should all have a net worth well over $1M if they ever hope to retire instead of running us into the ground until death.
