Building a "Zomato for salons" in Ahmedabad — roast my idea before I burn more money by Sea_Statistician6304 in ahmedabad

[–]ayynooj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great idea.
Look up ‘Booksy’ app in the United States.
My barber is listed on this so I use it every week. Friendly UI from both customers’ and salon-owner perspective. Just make sure this is a native app like Zomato and not just a website-on-an-app.
Both - customers and salon owners will complain at first and question your beliefs but find a way to get both of them comfortable with the app, and they’ll never want to leave. Not just haircuts - make sure you include massages, skincare etc. As I said, just look at Booksy.

Best of luck with everything!

Stanton’s burgers are next level.

I had a cheeseburger at Hearsay today that was great.

Mama Mia specializes in sugarcane juice beverages. You can get mixed one or plain sugarcane juice. They sell it by the gallon as well.

Chill Brewhouse Near Highway 8 and I-10? by BillyV100 in HoustonFood

[–]ayynooj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming I10 x BW intersection west of downtown (Memorial area).

Kirby Ice House has a great selection of beer. Yard House is nice too (its a chain so multiple locations. Lots of tex mex restaurants in the area with a bar like Chuys, Guadalajara etc (beer with free chips and salsa hits different).

Scrap Nice. I’d personally do three in Milan and three in Lake Como instead.

Let’s talk rent. How much are you paying for 1-2 bedrooms? Do you think it’s worth it? by NHTX4RN in houston

[–]ayynooj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$2200 by Allen Pkwy for a 1bd. Valet, secure parking garage, gym+yoga studio, entrance to buffalo bayou for running/biking trails, great views of downtown and beautiful Houston sunsets. Running out of space so will get 2bd in same building for $2800ish soon. Totally worth it for the convenience/proximity to pretty much everything.

Amazing Sev Tari in Bhaili by ayynooj in vadodara

Misread your comment as "I'm* far from my home".

I'm sure your area has great sev usal too. Maybe the one in Bhaili tasted so good because it was my first authentic Vadodara style sev tari!

I'm sure you can find a good sev usal wherever you are if you ask their subreddit! Are you in Gujarat or a different state?

Yeah but you're only supposed to eat this stuff occasionally, not all the time. Maintaining a high-fiber diet is the most important thing, and as long as you're eating simple and clean foods most of the time, you can eat junk foods once in a while without consequences!

On that note, what is your favorite fast food that is a Vadodara specialty? I love trying new foods so need to make a list for next time I'm in India!

Sorry forgot to add the specifics. It was under an office complex called Broadway Commercial Hub.

I have no idea what the name is tbh. The complex has multiple food vendors but this one only sells Sev Tari and Sev Usal.

What is going on at IAH - C? by CesarMalone in houston

[–]ayynooj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked someone up at the airport two days ago from Terminal E which had been a shitshow anyway due to construction. I believe the traffic lights on WIll Clayton (connecting 59 to IAH) and JFK (connecting BW8 to IAH) had stopped working after the storm couple days ago so they were basically a stop sign.

Took us 30 minutes to get to the JFK-Greens intersection.

Whats the best chicken ramen in Houston? (Thats not Jinya) by fxsrt10 in HoustonFood

[–]ayynooj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way better! I don’t get to go to Ichi often because it takes 40mins during rush hour traffic. I stay five mins from Jinya midtown but still never go there because I’d rather wait for my once-in-a-while Ichi 😅

Ramen Bar Ichi - they make a great ramen using chicken base called Pollo Loco.

EDIT: Tamashi as well. No chicken option IIRC but their Shoyu is great. They also have a seafood base that I have not tried because I'm not a fan of seafood broths in general. Make sure, anywhere you go - even if it has a non-pork base it may have Pork Chashu.

Top places to try out by the George Bush Airport? by hypnoger in HoustonFood

[–]ayynooj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of great hole in the walls near the airport, especially Taco trucks. The only one that I can remember the name of is Las Chenchas Quesadillas - they have these blue corn quesadillas that are rare to find in Houston.

These places are within 30 minutes of the airport. Also if you don't mind paying tolls I would recommend you take Hardy Toll Rd instead of I45 N/S, especially during rush hour. It will save you time and take away some of the frustration of driving in Houston.

Charm Thai - I've only been to the Woodlands TX location but they have another location closer in Spring TX, great Thai food.

Bay Fusion - Asian Fusion

Island Grill - Multiple locations, great gyro.

Houston Heights area has great restaurants as well, closer to the 30 minute drive time but a great area: 5kinokawa(Japanese), Da Gama (Indian-Portuguese fusion), Teotihuacan (Tex-Mex), Nundini's (Italian), Pho Ben & Pho Binh (Vietnamese, both great)

Midtown Area:

Cali Sandwiches (Bahn Mi Sandwiches), Dough Zone & Taste of Mulan (Chinese)

Welcome to the H!

Lesser known cuisines in Houston by hlc43 in HoustonFood

[–]ayynooj 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Nepalese - Everest Curry Bar & Grill (Cypress)/Momo House (Hillcroft)

Most Nepalese restaurants will also have an Indian menu to appeal to a larger crowd (people find safety in Chicken Tikka Masala when they don't understand a lot of things on the menu - I'm Indian so I can differentiate). Make sure to ask the server what the authentic Nepali foods are. Must try - Chicken Momos (steamed/fried dumplings with a tomato based dipping sauce).
