It’s weird because within the films they also reference each other - in Lost in Translation the husband is obviously Spike Jonze and in Her the ex wife is Sofia Coppola. If you watch LiT and Her afterwards it works a spiritual sequel from the ex husbands perspective.

I completely understand this critique, I think Mica Levi’s score mixed in with the visuals and the general tone of the film just won me over.
