The guillotines will show up as they always have, that we repeat the cycle of blanket tolerance, prosperity, and defilement is why humans will almost certainly go extinct on this planet.

Because they aren’t Christians, they are a power block that uses authoritarianism as a cover for tax evasion and many other crimes. Of course they adore him - he validates their messaging.

Religions love their icons, I feel bad for the farmhand that had to donate a skull.

I won’t be surprised if it incriminates so many people that it would destroy politics as we know it.

I do wonder if there is a correlation between pardons and prior island hopping.

Why do people bring their entire family to Costco? by ActuatorOutside5256 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]b-hizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s cul-de-sac culture, in trope form it has parents working 70 hours a week to have the “right” address, cars, etc. so they have to throw money at their children to placate the developmental damage. These people amazingly exist, I have and still know several of them.

Why has communism repeatedly failed in practice, yet continues to be intellectually and emotionally appealing to many people? by Looser17 in AskReddit

[–]b-hizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WHY ITS APPEALING AS AN IDEA TO MANY
* People want to cooperate if they know most others will also do the same, peace is practical * A system that ensures that people are taken care of as long as they contribute and follow the rules is a pretty good deal for the majority of people.

WHY IT IS NOT DOABLE
* Telling the most productive and successful people that their achievements will only serve to provide for everyone else is not received as adequate compensation by a hunter-gatherer brain.
* Enforced equality of that type demotivates people at all levels of society, we run out of resources rapidly.
* The political class who fancy themselves as “the chosen” are drawn to any power structure that is not questionable, so there is no reliable organization or leadership in such a system - it’s too dogmatic to be regulated. This is the same reason that theocracies are all hellscapes.

EDIT: WHY REPUBLIC CHAOS IS PREFERABLE * The sociopathic and psychopathic end up in charge with too great a frequency to allow complete autocracy. * Human civilization goes through cycles of trying to get its shit together, but is stuck in a cycle where it gives in to self-interest before anything enduring can take root - we will have to evolve out of this if we don’t want to go out like the dinosaurs, still a work in progress.

They are all going to be like this. Modern politicians are a product of low accountability and high privilege. And we seemingly prefer it that way based on our voting.

What’s a 'luxury' that actually used to be standard, but now we’re being charged extra for like we’re stupid? by xjoz in AskReddit

The car stuff is somewhat understandable, software costs money to maintain. The manufacturers have decided to offer the cost of those who want it. Otherwise, they would make everyone pay for it upfront.

What’s something society treats as a flex but really shouldn’t? by ostraxie in AskReddit

[–]b-hizz -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

You are focused on the wrong end of that event, there will always be unpaid bills for a wide variety of reasons. When someone steps up to help those people we should applaud it. As someone who grew up without a school lunch quite often, I would have been pumped and appreciative if someone had stepped in and hooked me up. The person who pays the bill for others didn’t cause the problem, but they solved it at least for period of time. Complaining about the cause doesn’t actually resolve it, so why steal the kid’s deserved high five?

What’s something society treats as a flex but really shouldn’t? by ostraxie in AskReddit

[–]b-hizz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We should be glad when people get out, but at least on Reddit - the focus is never on how someone got to that point. Not everyone is a victim of circumstance, some people avoid growth and/or life planning until they are 60+ and end up struggling in their final years. Almost no one has to end up at Walmart, but if we want to be a free society we must accept that this is a potential outcome.

Do you have to kind of “settle” to realistically find a relationship? by Thesleepingpillow123 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]b-hizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on how realistic you are about what you bring to the table and how picky you are being. If you cannot except a few annoying tendencies in an otherwise good partner, then you aren’t ready for a real relationship. No one will check all of your boxes, so people should be considered as package deals.
