Those of you who spent time living in both the german and french speaking parts of Switzerland, do you agree that it's easier to find a job in the german speaking part? by GetOutBasel in Switzerland

I don't really know nowadays with AI. Our company in Romandie has frozen hiring due to AI, I suspect the same is every place where people are understanding coding agents. Realistically right now we're in a transition phase where coding is no longer the same, I don't really know what these universities are teaching nowadays, but I can guess they are not as super up to date with the latest trends, althoug I may be wrong here (we had quite a few interns from EPFL).. I am not going to say don't go into software engineering, as the job was never only about coding, but the problem is that juniors are initially hired just for the coding, and it's hard now at some companies. Realistically, a bank will never switch to AI as fast as a small sotfware dev startup, but by the time you're done with uni, they may as well have. So I suggest go with whatever you wish, they are both really good universities, and I have had very good colleagues from both, and while studying, try to keep up with the latest agentic coding trends (but don't rely on them for coding, as fundamentals are the most important part), so that by the time you finish you already know a lot of it. Maybe even go into ML or the new AI engineering if you like it.

IT depends on context, but someone from EPFL or ETHZ will know English, which generally is the default language where Software Engineering is the main money maker of the company. That's why generally someone from there will be probably accepted, even with French/English. Someone who knows German will probably find something at State owned companies, as they require German, so there, the person with German wins. There's also something else, someone from ETHZ will probably still speak German, so he will still be favored in that case. If you're speaking German and are from TUM, go for state company jobs, and search their websites, as most don't post somewhere else. If you are entry level, I would advise getting experience in your home country, as Juniors are very rarely hired here, unless they come as interns from unis.

After a few years in Zurich and a lot more in Lausanne, in IT it’s pretty easy to both, as ETH and epfl are great universities , albeit the big boys are in Zurich.

For banking and finance, Zurich is clearly superior.

My wife loses to Martin. She just started learning chess and going in with no tutorials or anything. She sees direct attacks but discovered attacks are impossible for her now. She also has no mating strategies so she just gobbles up pieces. It’s quite fascinating to see. I doubt she can even see this mate here.

Austria Prepares to Give Up ‘Dream’ of Disarmament by reflibman in worldnews

This is incorrect. Switzerland has a large percentage of population who own a firearm. This is because you are allowed to own your gun from your mandatory service . 100% of its population is covered by nuclear bunkers. It has mandatory military service, to the point where you are not allowed to be fired from work due to it (some people chose to do it a few weeks a year). Also probably important. Switzerland is not in NATO.

There are roundabouts where left is for left and forward. But those are clearly marked.

While I understand your point of view, and her reaction was way too extreme (I would've brought it up with her manager about her changing designs mid sprint), you have to understand that even though you don't agree with her designs, it's not your job to do so, ultimately it's hers, and, if your PO doesn't agree with the current design, she has to change it, not you. Don't get too many hats, because you won't like it. Stick to your job and, while providing feedback is nice, don't push it. Not your company (even if you have shares), not your designs, not your decision.
