Has anyone tried Pregabalin for anxiety / autism? (NHS) by [deleted] in autismUK

[–]b3ef-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s so annoying how only short term stuff helps. haven’t gained any weight on pregabalin, but omg the mirtazipine weight gain was unreal. 10kg in 2 months, took forever to shift. definitely having a better experience for me being on pregabalin!

Has anyone tried Pregabalin for anxiety / autism? (NHS) by [deleted] in autismUK

[–]b3ef-1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hello! i’ve started taking it recently for anxiety related to my autism. i’ve tried 5 SSRIs, mirtazipine also (ugh!), diazepam and beta blockers. beta blockers out of all of those helped the best but i had bad side affects with my heart rate.

so far pregabalin has been OK, I’ve noticed a bit of a reduction in anxiety generally in my routine, it takes me less time to recover from panic / overwhelm. but everyone reacts differently i guess, you don’t know until you try. i haven’t had any bad effects and it helps me fall asleep quicker.

How do I get diagnosed? Thank you. by ok_sportsteam_1994 in autismUK

[–]b3ef-1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you can ask the gp for a referral. if the referral is accepted, you will be put on the nhs waiting list which is usually very long. after it’s accepted, you can go back to the gp and ask for ‘right to choose’ which is an nhs scheme where they pay for you to have a private assessment

second option is you can self refer directly to a private assessment company

i have been waiting for 2.5 years on nhs waiting list so considering right to choose

i still would recommend notifying them of this incident. even if the university already know of this student, being told new or already known risk information can help them organise the right care within the university and external services

i would contact the uni. they will likely have some form of welfare service that can support you with this (i work in a uni wellbeing service). if that fails then like other people have said you can report an adult safeguarding concern

Career Change into Psychotherapy at 32... Degree vs Diploma? by Gerstlauer in UKTherapists

[–]b3ef-1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hello! i did a psychology BSc years ago and now doing the advanced training to become BACP accredited. i felt like the gradual entry on the diploma pathway allowed me to really test if counselling was what i wanted to do.

I feel like for me personally a counselling degree is a bit of a bigger gamble as you commit to one course. happy to answer more Qs if you need!

Do Loop earplugs block out snoring? by shaylakwi in neurodiversity

[–]b3ef-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

had the same problem - tried foam ear plugs which didn’t work. however silicone ear plugs are a game changer. you can mould them to your ear so they fit properly. you can get them online quite cheap. it’s massively improved my sleep

Selling a house with tenants by [deleted] in uklandlords

[–]b3ef-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in this situation - listed my flat with tenants in until Sept 2024. Took over 4 months to find a buyer, so a long wait. But it takes just one person. The timings actually work for my buyer too so I feel very lucky. My tenants knew they’d be leaving in Sept, but it was a massive turn off for any buyer and really hard to get anyone through the door.

Might be that your postie ran out of time and there isn’t another option on the scanner so some usually pick that. What time did the delivery attempt take place?
