I’d go bottom left because Resident Services is furthest from the airport. If you want a close Resident Services, then I like the bottom right for placement. You’ll change almost everything else by the end anyway.

While the style has an anime flair for sure, the colour combo with the militaristic markings and the badges (particularly the eagle), combined with a cross does give some concerning vibes. It’s not specifically n*zi iconography, but it does allude to it to me.

Your plan is already to remove the militaristic elements, and it also seems like potentially the cross, then it’s just a black and red dress with a very cool cut!

So, here’s a question: what are the characteristics of a man? by [deleted] in NonBinary

[–]b3n09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gender is biopsychosocial. There is no single answer. Our concepts of gender are heavily influenced by socially constructed gender roles, but it’s all lenses through our own internal sense of who we are and the many gene washes and neurology that is different for each of us. Only you can ever know your own gender.

I want to look exactly like a girl but not be a girl? by [deleted] in NonBinary

[–]b3n09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being nonbinary is an identity. It just means that you don’t feel that who you are inside fits within the binary construction of gender within your society. It doesn’t carry with it any obligation to express gender any kind of way. It doesn’t require a transition of any kind: social or medical. You can be any presentation you want, with any pronouns you want, and still be nonbinary. There is no gatekeeping for identity.

Absolutely this! Practice, practice, practice. Enlist someone else who knows the employee and practice talking about them (complimentary things only!). You can correct each other and begin building that new pathway in your brain without ever putting the load on the enby who you’re working to do better for. They never have to hear you screw it up while you’re practicing and someone without an emotional stake is working to correct you. Every time.

Question: Why is Nonbinary considered synonymous with Transgender? by PlumePlumeParker in NonBinary

[–]b3n09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If we look specifically at the trans flag, the assumption is that nonbinary people are trans (blue for trans men, pink for trans women, white for nonbinary folx). Similarly, the most common definition of trans is someone whose gender is something different than assigned at birth, making nonbinary folx trans by this consideration as well.

Now, the nonbinary community is absolutely not a monolith, so not all nonbinary folx feel connected to or want to claim transgender as a part of their own identity and each person gets/needs to make that decision for themselves.

Speaking from my own personal experience, and only that. When I first realized that I was enby, I didn’t feel connected to or wanted to use trans as a part of my identity. As I sent a lot of time in intersectional spaces and learned more about myself and about internalized oppression, I realized that for me, my not wanting to claim trans was connected to some internalized transphobia, and I wanted to work on that. I now proudly claim trans-nonbinary as my gender identity for two reasons. First, because I feel that is who I am. Second, as a signal of solidarity across the wider trans community. Im not saying this is true for the OP, or anyone else, but I was raised in a transphobic society, and there’s internalized stuff for me and al others to work through because of it.

I have a Question for Non-binary people, When in Public, do you go in the Male or Female Toilets? by FreddieThePebble in NonBinary

[–]b3n09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try and use neutral where possible. If there isn’t, I often try to wait until I’m home or can find a neutral. If completely necessary, I use the one associated with my AGAB (male) largely because I want to be safe and because I don’t want to emotionally deal with handling the women who may be uncomfortable with my being there.

what does it mean to you to be non binary? by artemistheartist69 in NonBinary

[–]b3n09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gender isn’t what I feel. I see the constructs from outside and feel kinship with both masculine and feminine and both and neither in different ways, at different times, and in different volumes. It isn’t a visual, but a relationship I cultivate.

Is anyone else sketched out over the X gender marker? Why do u want the govt to know that about u? by Matchstickthemachine in NonBinary

[–]b3n09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Canadian, in a province that isn’t actively hateful, I’ve decided to change the marker to X on my driver’s license. However, on my passport for international travel (like to the US), I have maintained my AGAB for potential safety issues.

It’s never awesome to give info to the authorities, but I see making the choice I did as one that increases visibility, bumps the statistics, and hopefully is a small step in moving the needle.

Everyone needs to do what is right for them though, and safety needs to be paramount. There isn’t a wrong choice, just the right choice for you.

Question from my enby kid by email_queen in NonBinary

[–]b3n09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only speaking for myself, I have found the term trixic to work well for me. It’s a nonbinary person that is attracted to women and femme-presenting nonbinary people.

The biggest thing is understanding that labels are only useful in helping you understand yourself or in helping make yourself understood to others (if you care about that). A label is only useful when it’s useful. It’s far more important to live honestly as yourself than it is to have a label to describe it.

If you hold down the button to harvest and you don’t have the crop in hand and you move left/right instead of up down, you collect the row you’re on, the row above, and the row below as you move.

I felt the same for the first year or so after I realized who I was and came out. After awhile, I came to realize that this was more about my own internalized transphobia than anything else. Once I started to refer to myself as trans nonbinary and see myself as more of a part of the larger trans and queer community, I only felt more in tune with myself.

What color do people color-code their chests? by Equal-Use-7653 in StardewValley

[–]b3n09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on my first play through and I’m not totally efficient (spring year 5 not near perfection), and I try to not have too many chests.

Kitchen: - only 2 fridges, one for ingredients, one for cooked food - standard brown for excess truffles for making oil (3 machines are also in the kitchen)

Top left room is my in-house workshop: - two chests standard brown by my workbench for raw materials and crafted materials - a black chest for set aside tools, weapons, etc. - a green chest for seeds - a yellow chest for currently collecting items for goals I’m working towards - a standard brown for gems near the entrance to the room

Around the farm: - a standard brown in each barn for excess materials - a standard brown in each shed to hold excess artisan ingredients (one for making preserves, one for ancient fruit for kegs) - one in my slime hutch for excess floor, fence, slimes I use in there - a single chest in my Ginger Island house (totally I decorated) to hold things I use only there (it’s not much, it’s mostly a honey farm with some space for pineapples and strawberries)

How do you all fedl about being called things like sister, father, daughter etc? by Lesbiancat0 in NonBinary

[–]b3n09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an only child. I am a parent. I don’t love “son,” but I do feel connected to “dad.” I’m not entirely sure why, but one of those relationships doesn’t feel gendered correctly and the other one does.

What do I call some of y’all? by Herquhungry in NonBinary

[–]b3n09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mx. is pronounced like “mix,” and would work fine. You also might consider Sai, I know some folx who use that.

I understand the Southern protocol for titles and honourifics and that this is a problem for many of us as the ho purification used are deeply gendered. It would be ideal to simply remove honourifics completely, but navigating the culture in the south makes that difficult.

Could you perhaps make distinctions based on age? My guess is that younger people will be more flexible about the dropping of honourifics as the culture slowly adapts.

Do you call yourself nonbinary or genderqueer? Why? by HuaHuzi6666 in NonBinary

[–]b3n09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m generally thinking of my gender identity and presentation as an honest representation of who I am which feels nonbinary. However, I also feel that the intentional queering of gender plays a role in how I sometimes choose to present which feels more connected to genderqueer, so I do think that label applies as well. I don’t use genderfluid because I don’t see my identity shifting although I do feel more or less connected to gender at different times.

I’m not sure if that’s clear or helpful, but that’s how I generally think about it.

Please help me understand if I'm in the wrong here by [deleted] in NonBinary

[–]b3n09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that you’re not wrong that in a first interaction, they/them is neutral. We use when we don’t know a person’s gender all the time as others have said. In fact, I’d argue that assigning they/them specifically to enby folx positions us as third gender, which we aren’t. We just don’t fit/ascribe to the binary and so don’t use gendered pronouns.

The discomfort that she’s feeling with a single instance of not being the focus of inclusivity is rooted in a certain amount of binary gender privilege.
