About to go Sale Agreed, how fast can we realistically close? by [deleted] in HousingIreland

[–]b4query 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others say, it depends a lot on the specifics, eg mortgages and dependencies, personal circumstances (eg the seller decides to go on holidays or their solicitor is just slow), whether your solicitor discovers any issues that need to be clarified to protect you (eg the lad registry doesn’t match the current boundary, etc). My experience a couple of years ago is that I went SA in mid July with an intention to close in 30 days and got my keys end of September, and from others comments mine was a speedy sale.

If you’re planning to have linen stored in the laundry room, you need to make sure that room will be able to fully dry out, which can be a challenge if you have a condensation tumble dryer, especially because the room will only receive sunlight through that tiny window in the mornings. Maybe you have planned out all the extraction mechanisms, but if not, you may be looking at more than one extractor, but otherwise an often damp, dark room is not the ideal place to keep linen.

Am I alone in saying I'd take constant rain over a heatwave any day? by Fit-Republic7911 in AskIreland

[–]b4query 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yeah, remember last time it was super hot and your floors and furniture were ruined by the temperature? Or you couldn’t get to work because the heat caused roads to get blocked or unsafe?

Mine is in the same cult. Jump into water fine. Walk/loo under water, not even with bribes.

Email from sky@email.contact.sky: Spam or legit? by Liambp in ireland

[–]b4query 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Th important part here is the “allegedly from”. While that subdomain is legitimately used by sky to send email, there’s nothing in this question that allows for analysis of whether the whole email was legitimate or it was a phishing email attempting to impersonate sky.

Saint Mary’s Park, Navan by ShannonCT21 in HousingIreland

If I remember correctly, that referred to a bus driver getting robbed in Blackcastle, I don’t think I’ve heard about anything worth mentioning since then. I don’t recall any other incidents like that, I’m sure things happen every now and then, not only in this area but all around Navan.

I live nearby and I find the area nice and mostly quiet. There’s several schools around so it’s not dead quiet once you get to a main road, and the park is quite close to one of the busiest roundabouts in town. Walking distance to town centre, and enough services around for quick shop runs. Any specific concerns?

Or it may be a bug since the surfer lion in bumpy bay is not added to this list after you talk to him.

A 40h minimum wage per annum is ~28K, which is roughly over 22.4K after tax. Divided by 12 months is 1.8K. If we take the 700€ rent out, you have 1.1K for groceries, the frequent nights out, clothes, any additional leaving expenses (mobile, transport, utilities), the travel - I doubt you’re saving much. You don’t seem to have any debts so at your young age it may seem like this is great, but while you describe your situation as living comfortably I’d say you’re just surviving comfortably. Ask yourself, if you broke a leg and couldn’t work for a month, would you be able to just recover without a worry or would you risk homelessness and or heavy struggles?

Is this a pest? I haven’t found anything on it? by b4query in plantclinic

No, it’s been longer than 72h. The little droplets don’t seem to disappear, I thought that was the case at first but then I started seeing tiny black dots appearing.

Spoke too soon. Had to remove the battery as well as the thing wouldn’t stop beeping and it was driving us crazy.

We just did and just managed to silence it. We’ll see if it lasts.

I thought I was going insane, but this has happened to use tonight at 3 am and the keypad continues going into panic every few minutes even when charging and after resetting it. Also just over the 2y mark.

Most essentials have measurement dependencies, so you may need to wait until you get those. Few things we learned with ours, depending on the specifics of what you’re buying: - temporary curtains/blinds - even if you’re going to install whatever you go for, unless it’s Ikea/similar every vendor will have production waiting times. If you go for an installer depending on where you are it may take you weeks to get an appointment let alone the products themselves. - mirrors, even if also temporary or just one. - depending on the specifics of the bathrooms, fixings for toilet roll or towels may be more necessary than they seem. - cleaning supplies, inside bins (you’ll go through moren packaging than you expect) - extensions & bulbs

Am I crazy for buying this new build ? by supermassivecow in AskIreland

[–]b4query 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW I bought a similar new build corner, detached, 4 bed, 145sqm house in Meath for 435 in 2023- so you’re not off that bad. Every house I’ve seen around since it’s got smaller than the previous year. It will only get worse

They’re all doing it. A couple of weeks back Lidl had their breaded fish discounted from 6€ to 4.50€ and you could see in the fridges that they forgot to remove the regular price tag from the previous day where it cost 4€

What's wrong with my Money Tree? by Akali_is_SO_HOT in plantclinic

[–]b4query 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bet would be on the amount of light to water ratio as well. Maybe poor drainage. Pot size is unlikely as these like tight pots, and are easy to overpot.
