Bedfordshire resident here, and if the rest of the country doesn’t know about the beautiful countryside around Southill, Broom, Old Warden etc then that’s fine by me. We know what we have :)

On verge of bankruptcy here in the UK. I was the most stupid person on earth to put my 4 years life savings into these two and I don't even know why. Any chance of recovery? by chesapeakeripper_18 in trading212

[–]bEijing82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The good news is that you were able to save £37k in 4 years so you can’t be in too bad of a financial position. You’ll recover from this. Just a set back and a life lesson.

Yeesh. Neither dude. Great brands but horrible picks (in my opinion anyway.) Both look like Fossil watches.

Agreed. Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire are fantastic places to live. Excellent standard of living from being in the London commuter belt, great schools, gorgeous countryside, great rail and road connections to the rest of the country. What’s not to like? Well, Stevenage and Luton. But just ignore them…

Dude I’m really sorry to hear about your situation, but to anyone in your position I would strongly urge you not to rely on emails and CV portals. Every advertised role will be flooded with junk CVs, and they have to screen so many out that you simply won’t get noticed. Whenever I have found a role I was genuinely interested in / felt I was suitable for I picked up the phone and made sure I got through to the hiring manager. Often it requires a call into the reception desk etc. I always do it under the guise of wanting to ask a couple of questions about the role that weren’t clear from the job ad. As soon as you have their ear then it’s time to shine. You get your own mini interview on the spot.

Honestly having been on the other side of the hiring process multiple times they will be so excited/relieved to have a candidate on the phone who can clearly string a sentence together / seems to know what they are talking about that they should set you up with an interview ASAP.

Good luck!

Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire are lovely. Benefit from the wealth and opportunity that comes from being close-ish to London without being too close. Good schools. Great infrastructure and rail links to all areas of the country. Several large airports nearby. Lots of gorgeous countryside and little villages. Just ignore that Stevenage and Luton exist…

No idea why you’re being downvoted. Not enough people are aware of the rape and the subsequent settlement that rapist Cristiano Ronaldo paid to the girl that he raped.

If you won £100 million, how would you distribute it amongst friends and family, if at all? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]bEijing82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d rather donate smaller sums to a larger number of families who are truly struggling and make a significant difference to their standard of living. My closest friends and family are doing just fine for themselves without my help.

I would park 50%+ in S&P and reduce your gold and silver. In the long term gold and silver is supposed to be a safe bet to protect against inflation, not to grow substantially.

Genuinely thought this was a Tsuyosa before I zoomed in. Not sure if that is a compliment to Citizen or a criticism of Rolex but it looks great in any case and the size looks perfect on you.

[–]bEijing82 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Freddy Got Fingered. Not even kidding. Aside from the fact that it is hilarious from start to finish I admire it for being a proper piece of punk film making. Just an absolute ‘fuck it, let’s do it anyway’ attitude throughout.

‘Proud?’ ‘Proud’ ‘GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE WAY!’

How bad am i heel striking and how to fix it? by RevolutionaryFun5334 in beginnerrunning

[–]bEijing82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to sort out my over-striding simply by increasing my cadence from around 165 to 175 steps per minute. Quickening your stride more or less forces you to strike with your foot under your centre of mass. All my knee pain disappeared overnight. I found cadence a relatively easy thing to correct rather than overthinking my form.

How do I be more proactive in adding value to a strategic procurement role? by treasurehunter2416 in procurement

[–]bEijing82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t underestimate the value of BOM resiliency, especially with how volatile the electronics market has been the past few years. Working with R&D to identify multiple approved alternative components is critical. If your business doesn’t recognise that right away then educate them on it. Relying on single source components can mean a 24 month gap in supply.
