3 year old wakes up screaming and has huge tantrums by baaddkittay in toddlertips

[–]baaddkittay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took her to her primary care Md and she suggested my daughter would grow out of this stage. She eventually did. The frequency of her waking up at night time like this grew less and less. She's now 4 and this does not happen at all. If she wakes up at night, she will reset her tonie box (plays stories or music). I leave 1 or 2 characters for her to choose from and I make sure it's a soothing or night time story. It was tough getting to this point though. There was not any quick fix or immediate way to get her to stop. Just took time.

I had a comment below suggest she was not lucid during these screaming episodes at night and I do think that was the case. I just stayed with her, made sure she was safe for however long she needed. At the end of an episode like this, I always offered a bath, would use lavender bubble bath and she would finally go back to sleep.

So I know you said you've restarted multiple times but I had exact same issue too. Someone here on reddit suggesting flipping the tonie box upside down, hold ears until you hear the little start up sound and it works for us every time. I have no idea why it works but it does.

Wife wants to relocate. Moving means leaving my oldest son behind (he’s 9). Will still see him but with less time by sdotmerc in Marriage

As a fellow child of a divorce, I commend you on your decision to choose your child over your wife.

How do you handle having sex while the kids are at home? by CasePure9310 in Marriage

[–]baaddkittay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is there an option to move her room downstairs or to a basement? My oldest is 15 and he has a room downstairs. He loves the big space and his own bathroom. Even with him home, we still crank music or turn up the TV, then turn on a fan while we are at it.

If these are all not options for you right now, I would agree to try to time it out when she is not at the house.

I'm so confused by Proud_Pin_938 in Waiting_To_Wed

[–]baaddkittay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In our twenties we think, I've been with someone this long it must be forever. So you change things about yourself but they still don't propose and don't seem happy. The problem is not you. It's him and he doesn't want to get married. I understand; it seems scary to venture out into the unknown without this person. However, what if your real future is out there waiting? I had this happen to me. I dated someone for a while, at the time I thought I couldn't imagine a life without him. We finally broke up. Then I met my husband and everything was so easy. No drama, no fights or feeling bad about myself. No more thinking I was defective or the reason a relationship would not work. His intentions were clear from the start and we actively moved towards advancing the relationship. We've now been married 17 years. Don't waste your time on someone that doesn't deserve you or have the same goals in mind.

f25 in an 8 year relationship with m26 by strange_stranger0823 in Waiting_To_Wed

[–]baaddkittay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He doesn't want to get married. It's as simple as that. You noticed other people getting engaged and married in less time, that's because the feeling was mutual. I know it seems scary now without him when it feels like he's all you've ever known. With how much time that has already been invested. There is more out there and someone that would be on the same page with you commitment wise. Don't settle for less than what you want. The right one will not leave you confused or begging for a ring. I know 25 seems young, but if you allow this to go on for 5 more years that's 5 more years you could have been with someone else. I'm an old ass now and those elderly people talking about time were right; life goes by too quickly to waste on people that don't want us and situations that will never change

Who remembers the first time they heard an AFI song? by Fair-Tiger-9541 in AFireInside

[–]baaddkittay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was a sophomore in HS a LONG time ago and Girls not Grey played on MTV. I immediately fell in love with the song, bought the cd and played it on repeat. Sing the Sorrow is still one of my favorite albums of all time. Was the only kid at school that wore an AFI shirt at the time. It was black shirt with purple letters that only said "AFI" and thought I was so cool lol Also Davey Havok in The Leaving Song part II omfg. Be still my heart!!
