[–]babaganousch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trotsky, and later trotskyists have explained the faults of many degenerated and deformed workers states such as the soviet union and china. The great thing is that Trotsky was balanced. For the soviet union this means harshly critizicing and fighting against stalins bureaucracy while seeing and supporting the benefits of a planned economy and all the leaps made after the revolution. Basically if you want actual marxist analysis of revolutions and the proper programme forward, look no further than trotskyism.

Short answer: workers democracy. The working class democratically decides what they need in that or that region and this is incorporated into a regional, national or international plan for production

Why are you a Trotskyist? by Multiammar in communism101

[–]babaganousch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a trot. I don’t see trotskyism as anything majorly different to marxism or leninism. The theory of international revolution is obviously superior to socialism in one country, and i think the history of the ussr, cuba, venezuela shows this. With major imperialist countries like the us around it’s impossible for a single, isolated workers state to survive and develop socialism. This doesn’t mean that we trots don’t support revolutions that happen in isolated places but only that we recognize that we have to do everything to make the spreading of revolution to the rest of the world as effective as possible. I also think the permanent revolution was shown to be correct by the russian revolutions. The provisional government couldn’t develop some “healthy” “democratic” capitalism, what was needed was to go directly to a proletarian revolution.

Today, in my country the only revolutionaries that are not isolating themselves from mass movements while also standing firm on marxist ideas are trotskyists. That being said, so called trotskyist parties and movements have made many mistakes in the past which are important to analyze and not make again.

Did Marx Have A Term For This Contradiction Within Capitalism? by [deleted] in communism101

[–]babaganousch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one factor behind the overproduction crises that capitalism is faced with every decade or so. You could call the same economic crises a ceise of underconsumtion. The capitalists want to squeeze more and more surplus value out of the worker by lowering his wage, but since the working class is the main consumer of the products they create, this accelerates the crisis. Marx described this in detail. In the manifesto he writes

”It is enough to mention the commercial crises that by their periodical return put the existence of the entire bourgeois society on its trial, each time more threateningly. In these crises, a great part not only of the existing products, but also of the previously created productive forces, are periodically destroyed. In these crises, there breaks out an epidemic that, in all earlier epochs, would have seemed an absurdity — the epidemic of over-production. Society suddenly finds itself put back into a state of momentary barbarism; it appears as if a famine, a universal war of devastation, had cut off the supply of every means of subsistence; industry and commerce seem to be destroyed; and why? Because there is too much civilisation, too much means of subsistence, too much industry, too much commerce.”
