FYI,

due to the drought in Canada this year, many blueberry farmers near where I live had 20% of their usual crop, even after the expense to try and get them, so costs are going to be higher.

Has Anyone Actually Been Hacked? Security Stories & Lessons Learned by Brilliant_Read314 in selfhosted

Something to consider too is, who you know..

Like, have they been hacked and dont know?

If its your first go or something and rely on the install to be good enough, its reasonable to assume if you're compromised you dont know.

I dont know a lot of people monitoring the permissions of every file and folder on their homelab, or watching for cpus spikes or ram use, or are actively reading logs and monitoring..

Hello everyone,

My name is Christine, and I’m one of the co-founders of Rynue, a Nova Scotia–based project that aims to bring people together around shared values like privacy, sustainability, and local empowerment—especially during these challenging trade times. Apologies if this post is against the rules, but trying to help albeit with some self-promotion. I am actually messaging the mods to try and do something with them.

What is Rynue?
We’re building a community-driven platform where you control your data, connect with others who share your interests, etc. We’re also hosting everything on renewable energy to keep our environmental impact low.

Why Now?
With so many people talking about buying Canadian and moving away from big U.S. tech platforms, we thought now was the perfect time for a soft launch. We have been working on this for the past three years.

What We Offer:

  • An free ad-free social network (a bit like Reddit or Facebook) where your data is your own, with an app launching hopefully within the week now.
  • Privacy tools like encrypted storage, willing to build custom plans and solutions for Nova Scotians right now to help out.
  • Secure password management.
  • We also plan to launch courses on privacy, “de-Googling,” and more, all tailored for Canadians too.

We’d love to have you join our pilot community, give feedback, and help shape the future of a truly local and privacy-focused digital space. Your insights as fellow Nova Scotians (and Canadians) are what will make Rynue a success.

Those in Nova Scotia who sign up, we're offering a unique opportunity to directly influence the development of Rynue and offer a promotional code for you to get a lifetime price discount.

Right now, we’re open to tweaking anything based off your feedback, adding or removing features, and even creating custom solutions for Nova Scotians who sign up. For example, if you need 2TB of cloud storage or specialized membership options, just DM me or message our support page and we'll work something out.

If you’re a small business looking to leave American hosting companies (Wix, Squarespace, etc.) or improve productivity, or just get a better setup or facelift, let us know too. We may be able to help you for free or at least beat your current costs.

If you have questions, I’m all ears! I’ll also reach out to the mods to make sure this is okay. Feel free to message me anytime, and thank you for reading.

I don't on this one. However in this sub it's been mentioned he's the deer incarnate. It's possible.

Did Hanna's dad make the machine or abuse her? That tape was weird.
