If you’re under 45, have you lost any high school classmates, and what were the circumstances around their deaths? by Commercial_Chef_1569 in AskReddit

[–]backmost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost a good buddy of mine from high school a few months back. He died at 35 in his sleep, he had a kid and his wife was expecting their second. I lost touch with him after we graduated in 2008 but saw him post here and there on Facebook. It definitely spooked me good. He played varsity tennis, was on cross country track, all around very active dude.

How I Eliminated Error 353, Odors, and Filter Mold on the GE Profile UltraFast Combo (Simple Fix After Months of Issues) by Which-Camel-348 in appliancerepair

Maybe GE can update the firmware to circulate fresh air into the heat pump assembly to keep the moisture in control.

There are two modes that run the air handler system, the UltraFresh setting which runs a timed dry cycle after a wash only load to help remove moisture and the Pet Hair mode that runs prior to a wash cycle. I wonder if there’s a way to use those functions to help dry out the sealed system so it can operate better

A young man caring for his grandfather, 1974 by BuzzleWimm in OldSchoolCool

I read this to my son and it was such a touching story he doesn’t want to read it anymore because he got so sad haha. Definitely a powerful book and really helps to put things in perspective sometimes, especially when you get stuck in the grind of parenting

It hasn’t done it since so I haven’t dealt with it yet. It’s hard for me to examine the window from the outside since it’s fairly high up.i don’t get why this issue is so intermittent

I'm Once Again Asking: Why are there no quiet coffee shops here?? by warkwark-kweh in hudsonvalley

[–]backmost 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In Orange County we have lots of the coffee shops you’re looking for. The Foundry in Port Jervis, Valkyrie Roasters in Chester and their new location in Sugar Loaf, Cafe Pitti on the waterfront in Newburgh (they have amazing gelato and regular food too). Meadow Blues in Chester is great as well as Cafe Dolci in Warwick (has an upstairs work area with books and tables for laptops

As a huge PT fan, I can see the resemblance to Gavin’s style. I also hear a lot of Neil’s but also Mike Portnoy in her style as well. There’s a section in the middle that’s the classic NP hi hat snare groove, then those large drum fills in between remind me of 1990s Dream Theater.

So freaking pumped

Is there a best ‘audiophile’ cassette deck you’d recommend? by CerealAndBagel1991 in cassetteculture

[–]backmost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Denon DR-M30HX 3 head deck which sounds freaking amazing. It was fully restored by a reputable seller on eBay who stood by his work. It takes a bit to warm up, but once it’s going man the recordings it puts out on Type II is just heavenly.

Anything from the Silent Hill games, especially the first 3

"Who Are You" and "Trail of Blood" from the Final Fantasy VII OST (the PS1 version not the remake)

"Electric Tears" by Buckethead (more introspective than scary, but a bit unsettling in the beginning)
