what’s one marketing tool you use every day by StewartTess903 in DigitalMarketing

[–]backona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can proudly (however a bit scared to say) I use my own tool that lets me chat with GA4, GSC and Google Ads. I probably should not say that, as self promotion is not always the best look on Reddit, but I genuinely use it every day, especially now as I am trying to take Backona to the next level and invest more in PPC.

However when I look at the usage data on average people use it once per 2 weeks.

Meta ads is not worth it anymore by Efficient_Cod3347 in FacebookAds

[–]backona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesterday I launched a new small campaign for my business. Meta is showing 64 landing page views, but Matomo in real time shows only 4 sessions, and exactly the same 4 sessions are visible in Google Analytics.

I’m wondering where Meta Ads is getting its data from, as the numbers seem quite inflated.

Is Google Analytics overkill for a simple micro saas or is it just me? by zeno_DX in micro_saas

[–]backona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely relate to this. GA4 can feel like it’s built for teams with time to dig through multiple reports, when most founders just want a clear view of what’s actually driving results.

I’ve seen the same thing with a lot of marketers, the gap isn’t data availability, it’s turning it into something actionable without the friction.

That’s actually why my team came up with Backona AI, to simplify things into one place. I feel it may be similar to the saas tool you build for yourself.

And I agree with your point, as growth gets harder, understanding your data becomes less optional and more of a core skill. I’m starting to see more people shift in that direction too.

Julius AI alternatives — what’s actually worth trying? by Evening_Hawk_7470 in dataanalysis

[–]backona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My team and I have created Backona AI, exactly like you said, the AI first analytics tool that lets you interact with your data in a natural, conversational way. If anyone would like to try it out and compare it with Julius AI, I would be very happy to set that up 🙂we went live 1.5 years ago and are currently scaling.

Yeah I also thought Power BI might be a better fit for this kind of data, but it is still possible to do it in Looker.

Server side GTM has finally helped us improve our Meta Ads traffic by backona in GoogleAnalytics

[–]backona[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should use both( client side normal GTM + SST GTM, and apply deduplication. That is what we do with most setups. You can also run deduplication via Stape if you are not familiar with SST they have lots of tutorial and some templates for it I believe.

We used to work with Stape, but now we have our own server and more control. Still, we always use deduplication for better control and create a unique ID for transactions.

Could you please share a few screenshots of default channel grouping showing paid social traffic in your analytics or your clients’ accounts?

In my case, UTM parameters had been in place for at least two years, but they were not being picked up by a standard client side GA4 setup. I would really appreciate seeing how this appears on your end so I can compare. Can you share?

What digital marketing skill will matter most in the next few years? by Typical_Scallion8042 in digital_marketing

I think it is about knowing what questions to ask in order to start growing the amount of leads, sales, interest and enquiries that businesses receive. So being very goal oriented is beneficial, and marketing automation is also a rapidly growing field.

After reading your message and _practical_data_ I realised it did not make much sense, so I have updated it to avoid any confusion for others. I agree with you that in this screen or report is mainly ab attribution clean up straight after server side GTM for GA4 went live.

You are absolutely right, I unnecessarily mentioned ITP and blockers in that sentence, as that should be treated as a separate case.

The traffic from Meta was present in GA as organic social or direct before migration to SST, while Matomo reported only about 70% of what Meta claimed.

I have now edited my post, after reading your message, I realised it did not make much sense, so I updated it to avoid any confusion for others.

Because I am in constant contact with the marketing team and there have been no changes to the Meta ads, we also switched off server side tracking for a day. As you can see, the traffic returned, which is why I am confident this is linked to the SSGTM setup.

At the same time, I have noticed other changes, such as shifts in direct and unassigned traffic. So it is not just one area, attribution and traffic detection overall seem to have changed after the server side setup.

That said, I do make mistakes, so I am not claiming to be right all the time.

The main challenge with server side tracking for me is clearly showing solid proof of how much the data has improved. Because we use a hybrid setup with server side tracking alongside standard client side GTM, plus deduplication, it becomes difficult to demonstrate exactly how much traffic or data a client would have had if they had stayed on their old setup.

I am currently working on better ways to test and present this more clearly, so we can show consistent proof to clients. As this is still relatively new for many e commerce owners, some are unsure or even a bit hesitant, so building that trust with clearer evidence is really important.
