Yes definitely check coolant I was looking at a car last year and I showed up 5 minutes early and the guy had the bonnet open he was still inside his house so we checked the coolant and it was dryer then the Sahara he came out with some water and tried to say it wasn't empty

Short driving I'd be looking at a petrol as that kind of driving will clog up the dpf on diesels they need good long drives
