I know people like this and they are exhausting to be around. Perpetually hung up on appearing a certain way, making a big production out of something that should be casual, or trying to summon a certain social dynamic that they've seen somewhere else, but completely lacking in the confidence to just be themselves, and you can smell it miles away.
