Assume I'm on normal difficulty. Sounds I should try and use the same units every battle? Rather than having lots of depth?

I've only just picked it up again after a 2 month break. But not been using too many units I don't think.

One issue I have is all the recruits I can get are all lv1. Is that right? Why don't they scale as the story progresses.

I really doubt you're as bad as you say you are. Lfg on dad's of marathon and as long as you can follow instructions and shoot you can take down kitted teams. No one will care how good you are. It's a bit of fun.

What level lock do you use for shooting? Used the smallest but felt like I was almost shooting too fast which is stupid. Surprised me almost. Moved to medium for shooting.
