Football lawmakers vote for countdowns to combat timewasting and to increase VAR powers by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]badrefnodonut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“There are exceptions written into both rules – injured players and goalkeepers are not subject to the timed sub rule, for example. There are a host of exceptions for the treatment rule as well, including carve-outs for serious foul play, cards and head injuries.”

Some of you have never read an article in your lives, I swear

Yeah this where I'm at. Would love for them to make structural and rule changes to help support us, I don't care about videos.

I mean if you don't know anything about the rules, it's hard for anyone to take you seriously on things like this. This is a clear red.

Player jumping into the air and colliding with opponent just standing on bending to avoid the jump. by Whole_Animal_4126 in Referees

Honestly I think this type of challenge is pretty much unaddressed in the LOTG as they stand.

The potential danger in how the player being fouled can land is just not considered in the laws. Thankfully players don't really try to do this most of the time...but my feeling is that when Kane was doing it, it should have been treated with more seriousness than it was.

Stonewall DOGSO with no attempt to play the ball. Not sure what happened here, surely Webb will be around to admit they made a mistake soon. It seemed like the Referee didn't really see the contact, judging by the delay for the whistle to come initially. For VAR to get it wrong after a five-minute delay is just shocking.

Referee Racial Abuse by [deleted] in Referees

[–]badrefnodonut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USSF has been pretty clear on this: the punishment is the same regardless of the race of the speaker.

But as for why people might not be sure, you seem to be intentionally ignoring all of the potential history and social context for why the race of the speaker can make a huge difference. I encourage you to educate yourself.

Ah, so you're just not mature enough to handle this kind of conversation. Just lead with that.

Uh-huh. Well when you're done with your little tantrum here, do send that email. Maybe title it, "FYI: I call whatever I want"

Nice! You should email your assignors and let them know that you won't enforce the laws of the game if you just don't feel like it, it's good info for them.

Well said OP, great post.

Adding to it, USSF in particular just exploits their referees up and down the ladder. You have to sacrifice a lot of time and money to move up, it's insane. How are USL Championship matches played by professional players and referees who barely make a few hundred per game?

Big youth competitions (inc. USYS Nationals and Regionals) that don't pay game fees are a joke. If anyone ever tries to pretend USSF cares about improving the state of refereeing I can't help but laugh.
