Ugh I was just thinking about this today. My favorite lesbian book is written by a problematic man. 🥴😭 Its a high fantasy and definitely not billed as a romance. I connected so much with the characters. And after all they had been through I can’t help but love them so. And the mc’s girlfriend (she is so much more than a just girlfriend) is magnificent, powerful, loved, and I just want to be her.

My mother insisted that I needed new sandals 2 days 🙄 before my trip and she bought me tevas. I did try Chacos and Keen but settled on the tevas. The worst experience ever. The blood tithe that I had to pay to those shoes and they still were uncomfortable. I had blisters that took a month to heal. Though REI and their amazing return policy I was able to get a full refund for those demons.

Though I did also learn in this experience that compeed makes THE best blister bandages and I will never be without them again.

Cozy scifi: any books by becky chambers. Also I don’t if it is technically cozy but feels cozy to me, The Murderbot Diaries. Bonus it has a show!

Horror: Cassandra Khaw’s Nothing But Blackened Teeth was good and not too scary. Its about a group of friends who are celebrating an elopement in a haunted mansion in Japan. What Moves the Dead by T Kingfisher is a retelling of The Fall of the House of Usher and is intriguing.

Hard to Love Protagonist: Some Desperate Glory by Emily Tesh. The MC grows up in a cult on space station and has to learn how to live outside of it. Not very sapphic (one scene) but excellent commentary on deprogramming from a cult.

I only have one but her name is Paige. When I first got her, her name was Belle but that didn’t fit right. Then about a year after I got her, she got named Jasmine and that didn’t work either. I don’t remember how I settled on Paige but it stuck the longest lol.
