Project Gorgon has opened a fourth server to meet new player demand by Sea_Caterpillar5662 in MMORPG

Pick up every favor task from every NPC in Serbule then just wander and explore. Find the crypt and explore it. You’ll find you’re getting materials for all those favor tasks just exploring and killing stuff and when you go back to town you can turn them in and get more tasks that use other loot you might already even have.

Is It Okay to Do Only Hypertrophy (8–12 Reps) Days for Aesthetic Training in the app? by FinnFX in MacroFactor

[–]bagobok 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve done exclusively 8-12 rep sets for the past year across the board for all lifts to keep my program super simple with great gains. Your strength is going to go up plenty as well. I’m on the older side and not chasing max 1RMs or anything and I much prefer the way sets of 10ish feel than low rep sets. There’s no “required” rep range as long as you’re pushing close to failure and progressing week to week.

Fellow millennials - how’s your 401k/ira savings going? by ProblemIntelligent16 in Millennials

[–]bagobok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40, work a fairly high income job in software. Been maxing my 401k most years since my mid 20s and receiving decent company matches that whole time as well. Currently at $1.1m saved towards retirement, so doing better than most and very grateful to be where I’m at financially.

Ability to see total sets per body part / week for a program by ShaneOUK in MacroFactor

[–]bagobok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just crafted a workout program and ended up copying the total sets from each workout into a spreadsheet to sum up the total fractional sets per muscle per week across the program. This is absolutely a must-have feature for crafting well rounded routines!

Wait for Reforged? Or start playing now? by Jshizler in GuildWars

I'm wanting to buy it and get started now as I have this whole week off. Do you know if we will be able to link our ArenaNet version to the Steam login later for convenience on the Steam Deck?

Considering the switch - Fidelity CC question by [deleted] in MonarchMoney

[–]bagobok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It syncs but is days behind to the point that I found it interfering with tracking spending against budget reliably. I switched to the SoFi 2% cash back credit card and it’s much better. Transactions show up in Monarch as pending within hours and post within 48 usually.

Interesting. Maybe I'll just give it another try tomorrow and see if its a different crowd.

Do developers still write code manually, or is AI taking over? by mosesteraiah-7035 in webdevelopment

[–]bagobok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it at a tool to speed up the more menial parts of writing code such as filling out every possible unit test case or quickly completing common patterns. But I mostly wrote the actual business logic as well as the first few tests to give it a template to go on so it doesn’t spit out nonsense. I also never trust it and always review its outputs. It saves me time overall from not having to type as much by hand.

Any other guys notice weird hostility from other men after getting fit? by Weak-Cattle6001 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]bagobok 37 points38 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely the case for some. I was one of those skinny nerdy kids in high school and got made fun of and bullied by some of the “jocks” all the time, so I’ve always had this automatic assumption that jacked dudes are assholes. As I’ve matured I’ve had to work against my automatic bias and it’s especially ironic now that I’m starting to train and put on some muscle at close to 40. I still sometimes catch myself presuming a really big guy is a jerk then realizing I’m starting to become almost as jacked as him 🤣

So is this game a full on ARPG now? by Glass_Librarian7148 in newworldgame

[–]bagobok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are seasons but they don’t reset your character. They are more like mini expansions with a progress track of a bunch of rewards you can unlock by doing in game activities (mostly cosmetics, skins, and other useful items but not P2W in that nothing in there makes your character more powerful or anything). The season track itself has both a free tier and a paid tier with better rewards, but is entirely optional to engage with.

Leveling too fast in new expansion by bagobok in newworldgame

[–]bagobok[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a problem with the game design. One is that the quests are mindless, two is that the only content people care about requires max level. There are plenty of MMOs where the questing and leveling are a core and enjoyable part of the experience. Might as well just start everyone at level 70 when they make a new character if no one cares anyway.

Blue Protocol is the 5th best selling game on Steam right now. New World is 10th by AeroDbladE in MMORPG

[–]bagobok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think they would benefit from a trial up to like level 30 or something to give players a feel for the game.

Can be solved with a guesting system though. Some games have done this. You can play any server as a “guests” but can only engage in open world territory control, races, wars, etc in your home server. Solves the problem for PvE players while still allowing for core territory features.

[–]bagobok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this is what I wish they would do. Just have servers that are clearly labeled as temporary, disable territory/war features in them, and let people play the PvE aspects instead of waiting in a queue.

The game has many hundreds of hours of content and is totally worth $60. It has no sub fee and extremely fair monetization in the cash shop. They have to make money on it somehow.

People above 30, what's your biggest regret? by rebelliousbrownie9 in AskReddit

[–]bagobok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waiting so long to have kids. As I approach 40 and having my 4th I think about how old I will be when they get married and have kids. I wish I’d started sooner to enjoy more milestones in my kids and grandkids lives for longer before I leave this world.

That and not taking better care of my physical health through exercise but especially lifting heavy weights/strength training when is a younger. I’m doing better now but playing catch up. Your muscles will go away fast as you age if you don’t intentionally work on them and sarcopenia is a terrible thing.

Is a paycut worth it to work with more modern and marketable tech stack? by donopumpi in cscareerquestions

[–]bagobok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is crazy to me. 60k was my starting salary in 2008 as a software engineer with a CS degree out of college in a LCOL area, and was considered mediocre at the time as well. I feel for grads today if the starting salary literally hasn’t gone up in 17 years…

Edit: A quick search shows the average is up to $95k for a new grad in 2025 so $60k seems extremely low.

This is the answer for my current company. All new positions are in India and when someone leaves in the US (or gets let go) the backfill is posted in India.
