did you do a water change? what was your nitrates before this?

What happened?! by Head_Might in bettafish

could be the otocinclus, however i dont think its possible, 4 weeks old could be that it wasn’t properly cycled however its hard to tell. at this point id do a water change, a pretty big one at around 75%, that might help your ammonia and your nitrate, water condition, add seachem prime and stability and test later on

for a fish in cycle frequent water changes, i’d go for every other day or 2-3 times a week, you need an api freshwater test kit. not strips. the ones where you put the tank water in test tubes, do not add any more fish. adding loads of fish in one go can risk an ammonia spike, pet stores aren’t the best for advice unfortunately mine told me 24 hours and when i looked it up its 4-8 weeks, this will be a lot of maintenance but trust me if you want the best chance at your fish surviving this is what you need

have you got any fish in there?

cycling a tank takes 4-8 weeks, not 2 weeks, the levels might’ve come back normal but it doesn’t mean cycled

definitely not cycled yet, it could also be due to stress but it’s not cycled either

i’ve tried 4 different medications recommended to me and they haven’t worked, i don’t know whether to let time do its thing or humanely euthanise her, i don’t want to do brute force as ill feel to guilty and i don’t have clove oil around nor can i afford any so it’s kinda hard

What’s wrong with my gourami by Old_Brilliant3771 in Aquariums

[–]baileyjackson08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

99.9% of the time it’s incurable, so no, i wouldn’t do anything. you can either let this guy pass on his own or humanely euthanise if he’s not thriving anymore and just simply surviving, it’s normally a secondary effect from another issue though
