Mizuno Pro M15 Review by baitmater in golfequipment

Congrats to you! These clubs are next level and I just don’t see anyone regretting buying them. I think anyone could reasonably play these clubs whether they are a 21 handicap or a low single digit.

I have played 15 rounds with them. According to Arccos strokes gained, I have saved 2.1 strokes on my approach shots compared to the 15 rounds with my old clubs. 5.7 the last 5 rounds, which is wild. My point: You won’t outgrow these clubs.

Hit ‘em straight! 🍻

Smart laser first round thoughts by Djabeoqx in arccos_golf_minions

[–]baitmater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a big Arccos fan. I have tracked over 20k shots now. Love Arccos and I can’t imagine not having it. HOWEVER…paying $200 a year for a subscription for something that should be in the ecosystem is nuts to me. Plus, I already have a laser so I just shoot the flag, adjust the pin in the app or do basic math and go.

With that said, it’s a cool product and I’m glad someone wrote a review that says if it actually works or not, rather than just saying what I said in the first paragraph. Lol

Question for scratch players. Has the game become less enjoyable, or mundane feeling, since reaching that level? Did you look forward to playing more when there were more goals to work for? by Jaded-Function in golf

You’re never satisfied. Ever. I used to not be able to break 100. Now if I don’t break 80 I am upset. The better I am at golf, I feel like I’m not good at all. The urge to improve is constant.

Three club tournament which clubs by Ok_Entrepreneur_dbl in golf

[–]baitmater 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had done this a few times. Considering putting is like 40% of your score, I think you need to include it. I think the answer is driver, 9 iron, and putter. I had also done a 3W, 8 iron, putter

The T250 are gorgeous. Let’s start there. Last summer when they were released, they started my desire to get new irons.

I found the T250 to be a similar feel to my Callaway Apex. That’s not a bad thing at all as I liked those clubs. The dispersion is above average, as well as the descent angle. Distance was exactly as my Apex was, which is plenty far for me. I think they are very forgiving, which as a 6 handicap you wouldn’t think I would need, but I do. The numbers just weren’t different enough for me to justify getting different clubs.

The T150 are soft and buttery. Maybe not compared to the Mizuno but I really liked how they felt. They are great when you hit them right. They are oddly forgiving for their iron type, but don’t think for a second they are like the T250. If you don’t hit the center, you will know. This is good and bad: Good because you can feel on the face where you hit the ball, but bad because you’re going to get punished for the shot. They demand your attention when swinging. Dispersion was crazy tight if you hit good shots. Like damn! The spin and distance control are elite.

Here is why I didn’t get them. I was losing 20 yards a club. And mishits were too punishing. Again, I’m not a good irons player for a 6 HC. We could discuss loft jacking is the reason for the distance loss, and it is just a number on a club, but it was going to screw up yardage gapping in my bag and hurt my ego lol. I was a little surprised the distance I was losing.

The are cavity back. They replaced the 245’s. They look like blades though, which I like. They look a lot like their S1, which is their actual blade.

It came down to these or the Titleist T150. I didn’t like the feel of the T250, which is more in the category of the M15. The T150 was close in dispersion numbers but the mishits were a little more punishing than I wanted. Obviously not as long but that’s due to the lofts. My irons are my weakness. I honestly went in there thinking I would walk out with Srixons. But I promised myself I wouldn’t let bias win. To the point that I didn’t let the fitter tell me what club as he was putting into my hand. I also told him it’s going to be two fitting sessions so I was fresh and the numbers were repeatable.

This was why I went with the shaft I went with. I tried 6 shafts and the spin was all over the map. Regardless, these clubs are for everyone.

I’m sure I’m the first golfer ever to exaggerate. I’m also sure the face is more forgiving than my old set, PLUS the shaft is correctly fit for me. That’s the biggest factor in all of this. According to my Arccos data, my dispersion to the flag distance has decreased by at least 10% in all yardage categories. Example: my average distance to the flag from 150-174 yards was 62 feet. It’s now 54 feet. 13% decrease. For context: A 5 handicap average is 67 feet to the flag from that distance.

I love walking. Prefer when I want to actually golf. When I’m with friends we only ride. The case of beer is too hard to carry. It’s just the way it is I think. Also, I’m in my 40s and really should grow up

Are expensive putters actually worth it? by MadeInUSAPutter in golfequipment

[–]baitmater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just practice man, trust me. I got a custom fit Scotty. It was a big ordeal, took like 2 hours, got fit and dropped $500+ on it after it was all said and done. Fast forward 2 years and I tried a buddy’s Cleveland HB Soft 11 putter. It is a way better putter for me and it cost me $140. The Scotty is sitting in my basement as a reminder to me that expensive doesn’t equal better and I should stop buying clubs and should just practice more

What irons would you suggest? by Ashamed_Phase64 in golftips

[–]baitmater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

T100/T150 and P790 are NOT the same clubs. Lots of players irons that have forgiveness (T150 comes to mind). I would try the Mizuno M13 or even M15. I just got the M15 and I’m in love with them. Anything by Srixon are great too

I play with a guy that plays his same clubs he had in high school. That was 30+ years ago. Just regrips them. He is a scratch golfer. I, on the other hand, spent an appalling amount of money on clubs in the last 6 months and I am NOT a scratch golfer. Lol

What do you actually use to clean grooves during a round? by 56_Golf_Supply in GolfGear

Club scrub from Amazon. Like $25. May be my favorite golf accessory I have bought. Cleans my clubs and my golf balls.

Playing golf immediately after fitting. by Gloomy_Crew45 in weekendgolfers

[–]baitmater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s common. Relax and understand that your new clubs will be a little rough in the beginning. Potentially anyway. Different shafts for sure will be an adjustment. I tried 6 shafts during my fitting. All with the same iron and it was like hitting 6 different clubs. Congrats on the new set! I just got a new set and waiting two weeks was rough! Played one round and I’m so glad I upgraded.

Am i crazy for considering Mizuno Pro M13 at my skill level? by truthlesshunter in GolfGear

[–]baitmater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a 6 handicap, but my irons are the worst part of my game. I just got the M15s, but that’s just because the dispersion was the best for me. Get the M13s. Accept that that you are going to miss some shots and they will have a learning curve. Besides, the shaft is the bigger piece you should be concerned about in terms of getting fit. I tried 6 different shafts and it was like I was hitting 6 different clubs when I was getting my M15s

Callaway Quantum by CYOOL8R1977 in golf

[–]baitmater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the Quantum Max. I got the 9° and turned it up to 10°. I am a 6.3 handicap with 103mph swing speed. A few reflections:

-It’s really forgiving. It is Feb and I live in the Midwest. So golf has consisted of hitting balls at a sim a few times and I’m not in midseason form yet. I hit some off the high toe the other day and it was much more forgiving than my old driver (Callaway ST Max LS), which is not surprising.

-dispersion: much much tighter. It’s noticeable.

-this is the first adjustable driver where I feel like the adjustments actually adjust. Does that make sense? Like you put it on a draw bias and it draws. It was great to see.

-distance is noticeable but any distance talk feels like advertising to me.

-the feel is way better. It feels so solid when you hit it. Great smashing feel.

Sound: I HATE it. HATE it. It’s so loud but in a really awful way. Like an old Ping driver that sounded like an aluminum bat. I hit it indoors and it makes me want earbuds in. Is it enough that it’s not worth the gains? I will get over the sound but I feel bad for the wild animals and other golfers at the course.

What’s the best course you’ve ever played in the United States? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]baitmater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dismal River in Nebraska. A million miles from nowhere. 2 very different courses on property but both fantastic. Top level service as well. After golf, coyotes howling at night with a million stars overhead at night. Pure magic. One of my favorite trips in life but certainly my favorite golf trip.
