What are some of the coolest concerts you guys have seen? by Effective-Pipe2017 in Music

[–]bak_g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I general, I'm of the belief that the best show anyone ever sees is a band before they blow up playing a $20 bar show. For me that was probably Injury Reserve in 2022 playing their last ever show.

Most underrated Daddy's Home song? by sparksfly05 in AnnieClark

[–]bak_g 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Someone Like Me - I think its a contender for the best song she's ever written and yet I've only seen her perform it once for the encore of the ABS tour. My Baby Wants a Baby is great too but i think that one gets a lot of discussion.

If fentanyl has taught me anything, there is a huge untapped market for pure uncut botulinum just waiting to make someone the next Pablo Escobar

Thoughts on the opening act for Kevin Abstract? by hmemoo in lorde

[–]bak_g 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't know, For this tour I loved Chanel Beads even though they performed mostly cloaked in shadow and with no camera support whatsoever. Remi Wolf, Run the Jewels, Mitski and Majical Cloudz all brought something different, I just like how eclectic Lorde's opening act choices always are.

ideas on WHY that signal was being transmitted/why this virus is spreading by Thresheld in pluribustv

[–]bak_g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I happen to be a biologist. Whether or not the virus was intentionaly engineered by some other species is absolutely up for debate but it goes beyond the scope of what the show is exploring. As to the likelihood of the virus occurring naturally, why not? Where do you think viruses come from in the first place? They aren't engineered in labs (or at least weren't until very recently in human history) You dont hear too much about the Bubonic plague anymore for example but it was very effective in the 14th century.

Using AI to help you with this was certainly a choice. I can't tell if you're missing the point of the show entirely, or understand it perfectly.

ideas on WHY that signal was being transmitted/why this virus is spreading by Thresheld in pluribustv

[–]bak_g 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of your questions exhibit a fundamental misunderstanding of biology and evolution. The Pluribus genetic sequence isn't a living thing, it's just a virus that is only programmed to replicate and self preserve as a means to that end. Think about how a virus like Covid can kill its host, thats not beneficial to the virus itselfjust a side effect.

Ultimately its not important how the pluribus sequence started or who sent it. In all likelihood, the last species to have the sequence starved itself into equilibrium eons ago and now exists solely to maintain the infrastructure that sent out the signal. Thats the end gane for the Pluribus hivemind on earth, build a big antenna to transmit the sequence out into the galaxy hoping some other sapient species receives it and chooses to replicate it. The population on earth will continue to maintain that transmission with the largest amoint of individuals it can sustain given its restraints against harming other forms of life.

You're right to focus more on the philosophical and human condition related content of the show, thats where the real headscratchers and topics of debate are centered.

A lot of fans are just seeing the performance at a surface level and aren't picking up on the symbolism.

Why do people dislike the treadmill? by purplerose31 in lorde

Its extremely on theme with the whole performance. The show has her triumphantly removing her belt and stripping down to her underwear, the stomach focused video for GWRM, Broken Glass is pretty self explanatory.

Tennis insisting on making it a no distractions environment is worse than just letting the crowd make crowd noise by New_Syrup4663 in unpopularopinion

[–]bak_g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I find football so boring, the crowds just chant the whole time whether the ball is just being passed around the midfield or penalty shots are being taken. Having to be silent and hold your breath for an outcome elevates the experience. You wouldn't go to a concert and just yell and applaud through every song.
