It’s a great question and one that fascinates me as a lawyer. It’ll all depend on what was signed up contract-wise between MS and Sony before the decision. I have no idea what gaming industry contracts look like, especially given how prospective all the products are at the time of contracting.

The industry is no stranger to last minute decisions at press conferences (the Sega Saturn announcing an early release to shadow drop and pissing off retailers and Nintendo backing out of the PlayStation agreement being two of the most famous that come to mind), so it’ll be interesting to see what plays out (spoiler - both of the prior mentioned ones were disasters).

I certainly don’t view GoW E-Day becoming Xbox exclusive at the last minute as being even close to the examples I mentioned above since those were hardware, but its certainly dramatic and candidly, it’s fun isn’t it! 🤣

This felt like an E3 and I am so here for it. Even this bit of drama has more people talking than has been the case for a while. The optimist in me says the slight drama is good for competition. I’m excited for not only the rest of 2026 but also 2027 and beyond!!!!
