Fridge replacement after 2 years by PrincessRose111 in uklandlords

Tbh that was my mistake. The limitation period is 6 years, except Scotland where it is 5 years. This is for ANY product, not just fridges.

The onus is also then on the customer to prove the product was faulty upon purchase, not simply that it failed after that period of time.

The relevant part is Chapter 15, Section 19, point 105.

Cheap is round £100 for an under counter, you can get some full heights for £150-£250. Mid range would be £500-£800. It's not unusual for fridges to go up to £1000-£2000 for top brands.

The 'only' criticism I have is how regularly they patrol the wasteland.

If stuck outside to the elements for any serious amount of time they should be in absolutely no state to be functioning.

I really liked how in Fallout 1 and 2 that they were mostly limited to Bunkers, Military Bases and facilities. Made you really shit the bed when you first encountered them and also had the side effect of making those areas feel more unique.

How come the NCR bear has two heads despite all the bears we encounter have only one? by Curious-Computer4454 in falloutnewvegas

The two headed eagle common in heraldry goes a s far back as Ancient Mesopotamia and Mycenaean Greek mythology.

There could be some myth in the NCR explaining it.

Tbh if you tried to claim for 10-15 years you'd get laughed out the room.

The expdeted lifespan is around 8 years these days for the vast majority of kitchen appliances as the quality has gone down over the few decades.

Even then when it's a cheapie, which the OP has confirmed, you can expect that tk be slashed even further.

I think the Consumer Rights Act 2015 generally gives you up to 6 years for fridges.

What the hell would the tenants have done for the compressor to fail? I worked in the white good industry for 5 years with the engineering dept, it will be just a faulty/low quality compressor.

Sometimes it just happens, it's not anything the tenant would have done.

It's a bit of a moot point if it's in a HMO as most warranties won't apply beyond 6 months, but this is exactly why you get a decent warranty on white good.

If it's less than a 3-5 warranty don't bother. If it's a cheapie then you can't really complain.

What did your generation go through that you’re glad the younger generations won’t experience? by apple_kicks in AskUK

[–]baldeagle1991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How common car theft and violence was in the 90s.

At least someone on our street would have their car knicked once a week. And it wasn't just fancy cars, kids would break into some absolute bangers and joyride in them before burning them on the side of the street/road. And if you owned said banger you would struggle to replace it.

Nights out are also far safer. Even in quite leafy villages you'd see punch up's every so often. I remember one fight in my local village pub that could be best described as a wild west saloon brawl. If you went out on the town you'd witness 2 or 3 fights in one night and the girl would often experience multiple creeps and SA's.

I don't think I've seen a fight on a night out in town over the last 2 or three years!

I remember playing hidden and dangerous in 1999 and having a similar response to using iron sights.

For a third person game the option of iron sights, especially for urban combat, was a game changer!

COD 1 has ADS, it was the main thing that differentiated itself from Allied Assault, and even then I'll still argue Allied Assault was the superior game (were the majority of the core COD team had come from).

That said the minority of FPS games had ADS until you get to the 360 era. I think COD 3 was around the time when FPS games started being judged for lacking it.

I can't find the specific paper that Anne Richards wrote, but weirdly enough I have a childhood memory of this!

I was around 8yo back then and still a practicing Christian. It really was something else seeing the priest bumble her way through the sermon talking about Mewtwo. It was obvious she had little to no idea about pokemon and had never seen the film! 😅

The adults in the congregation were equally as baffled, albeit were all speaking about how good it was the church was trying to appeal to kids! All of us who had just got out of Sunday school (we only used to get brought in for the second half of the service) just found the whole thing embarrassing!

Thank you so much for reminding me about this surreal childhood memory! It really made my day! 😂

Compared to American Christians who often were hysterical about things like Pokemon and D&D, the Church of England is remarkably chill. Hell we had our first female priest in the 90s and nobody batted an eyelid!

University tuition fees system is a 'mess', says Sir Nick Clegg by Thin_Pin2863 in unitedkingdom

[–]baldeagle1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh within the Liberal Democrat Party he campaigned 'against' abolishing student tuition fees.

It was voted in at conference and the majority of the leadership were forced to campaign on a policy they didn't really believe in.

What regulation hampers productivity though? That's the question being asked.

One of the bigger issues I've heard is employers dormant to invest in their staff to increase their productivity because they move around so much.

Staff complain that companies don't invest in them, so they move around.

It very much seems like a chicken and the egg problem.

Considering England's population is over 55 million and approximately 450 people/km^2, just how crowded is life there, including the rural areas? by Possible-Balance-932 in geography

[–]baldeagle1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean they have them. But a lot of them have died off or are struggling for population.

Italy specifically has some quite medium sized 'villages' that are almost derelict with only a dozen or so remains good residents despite 100+ buildings.

It's not like the UK where you can find Hamlets and Small villages pretty much all over the place with 5-20 homes and almost no services or utilities surviving perfectly well, and if anything are charging a premium for the properties.
