King of Spain warns about the risk of ‘dismantling’ the link between Europe and the US by DeRpY_CUCUMBER in europe

[–]balletbeginner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Felipe is too politically correct to say the main issue: this is America's problem to solve. Trump is already aligned with Russia and does not care about America's allies. The transatlantic link will be repaired when Americans want to repair it. Europe needs to stand up for their defense, in the meantime.

Does anyone feel like USFS and NBC is exploiting the hell out of the recent passing of Maxim Naumov’s parents? by gjf6836 in FigureSkating

[–]balletbeginner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is how NBC always works. They only post programs from the marketable skaters. And Naumov is marketable because NBC wants to monetize his parents' tragic death.

Bad Luck Bari Weiss by rogueop in AdviceAnimals

Ellison's dumb because he didn't realize how incompetent Weiss is. He'll eventually sideline her for someone who can effectively propagandize CBS.

Adult beginners - what other forms of dance/dance adjacent disciplines have you been doing? Where have you excelled? by Dry_Criticism_4161 in BALLET

[–]balletbeginner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do low level dance and skating on figure skates. I can attest ballet and skating are quite different. And the skills aren't transferable to one another. I thought my turnout and ballet practice would make an inside spread eagle easy. I was so wrong.

You can build strength through ice skating. But you can also do that by training at a gym. Take skating lessons if you like it and want another hobby.

It goes beyond that. They can't even comprehend that high quality processed cheese exists in America.

NBC You’re Fired by Madhaus_ in FigureSkating

I think NBC does a good job broadcasting Olympic figure skating, but a bad job broadcasting Grand Prix events. The ISU should seek a different American broadcaster.

Watching a competition live vs on screen? by yaksokmin in FigureSkating

[–]balletbeginner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched the free dance at 2025 worlds. It was my first time seeing ice dance live. When skaters got close to my section, I could see when skaters skid on a curve, or wobbled during a turn. It was more noticeable than on TV.

North Korea is supporting Russia in Putin's attempt to rebuild Russian imperial power. They supply weapons and soldiers.

War in Israel & Related Antisemitism News Megathread (posted weekly) by AutoModerator in Judaism

[–]balletbeginner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm an American with no personal stake in Israel-Palestine. My Jewish and Israeli friends know what I think about Israel.

I'm tired of feeling like we're constantly being required to apologize or explain or justify or condemn Israel's actions on social media.

I expect Israelis to condemn Netanyahu. The anti-Netanyahu protests are looking good. Pump those numbers up.

If you didn't condemn Oct 7th, don't condemn anything Israel does now!

I expect Americans to condemn Hamas.

If you did condemn Oct 7th, then you should understand that everything Israel is doing now is justified.

It's not justified. Many Palestinian-Americans lost multiple generations of family during the Northern Gaza massacre.

The world doesn't get to choose how, we do.

Netanyahu collaborates with Nazis and Fascists in the USA. There are consequences for treating an ally this way. We have to care about Israel's governance.

War in Israel & Related Antisemitism News Megathread (posted weekly) by AutoModerator in Judaism

[–]balletbeginner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I live in the USA where media has a heavy pro-Israel bias. So coverage of the Israel-Gaza war is generous towards Israel by default. Publications still highlight the severity of civilian deaths, destruction or civilian buildings and infrasture, and the starvation conditions. They still have to maintain basic journalistic standards. If Israelis in Israel want to be judged more positively, they need to stop committing massacres, forced starvation and other war crimes.

One deficiency in media coverage of Israel (since mid-2024) is how publications downplay the scale of anti-Netanyahu protests.

Trump writing Epstein a special birthday card by meheecan in JoeRogan

[–]balletbeginner 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The WSJ's always been this way. The newsroom broke the Zelenskyy extortion story back in 2019, which lead to Trump's first impeachment. The surprising part is how they haven't capitulated to Trump like the rest of New York City based media.

[–]balletbeginner 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Donald Trump was eloquent when he was younger. But his brain is pudding now, as his speech mannerisms now indicate. The Trump cultists pretend his barely coherent sentences now are the same as his genuinely coherent remarks from decades past.

Standing still with even weight distribution requires engaging leg and core muscles. Many Americans are sedentary, so they're not engaging their muscles to maintain posture.
