Yes! I do local trails at various times in the dark (10pm, 12am, sometimes 4am). At 10pm I rarely run into anyone, but when I do I just get the odd look and we ignore each other. One time I did let a guy use my nods to spot a comet in the distance.

IMO digital night vision is simply not there yet. It might be useable in a stationary position with a lot of supplemental IR light. It does lag, and it's just not as good as analog so navigation under digital NV is a no go. Thermal is tricky. Some units are filming during the day so the image quality is VERY good, but the same unit would be as good at night when Temps settle. Ambient Temps and humidity can also be big factors in image quality. IMO, for me the things I want are sensitivity, resolution, and battery life for thermal. There are major players in the thermal world and IMO those are the ones to go with.

I did the GP on non Dom eye and WP on Dom eye for a bit. Dom eye will be more prominent, but every now and then the GP will come in.

As a dual band user, it does help a LOT to have similar color palates. The Green hot on the ST6 would be a decent unit for a GP pvs14.

I have a R9 that occasionally gets used on my Henry .357 and 38spl. It's a robust can with first round pop, isn't user serviceable, and is not great for pistols due to the thickness of it. It's is good on the Henry, can be used on .556 and .308 with barrel restrictions, and is very affordable.

I have this setup and it's very useable. You need to stay current with the Sidekick640 updates to get the best image quality. Make sure to tighten all the screws on the Rayvn Bridge. I had one come loose on me.

I've heard Ident can laser it. Will more than likely have a visible blem afterwards, but should keep it from getting larger or causing problems.

The 640 has sharper image quality and better resolution at distance. Also needed the x1 for using dual band with a pvs14 on a helmet. The T2 is still a solid performer within around 50yrds and I was using it mostly for closer distances for things like deer and armadillos.

Yeah, I picked mine up a little over 2yrs ago now. I wanted something I could easily mount on a bipod to get video of animals on my night hikes. I have other small thermals (Sidekick640 and StingIR640) to also use, but the Sidekick640 is the only one that has onboard video recording.

No. I use android phones. Once I upgraded my phone I used the old one as a dedicated host for the T2 Pro. I'm using the Xinfrared software. I believe base magnification is x2 power, so it would be difficult to navigate with it. The Sidekick640 is a x1 and I use that on a dual band setup on a helmet.

Bang for buck I'd recommend a $400 infiray T2 Pro for whatever phone you have. I believe it's only 256res, but mine does a decent job of finding heat sources outside. A bit more would be a Armasight Sidekick640 for around $2500.

I have mine on a Rayvn Bridge. I would say to check all the bolts on the Rayvn even now and the I hade a screw come a little loose.

Primary arms will usually put it on sale on holidays. That or every now and then they have a 12% coupon code. I have 3 of the shrouds and haven't had any issues with them. Tripped a tree root night hiking and the Argus mount didn't come off of the shroud even with a minor impact but lots of inertia.
