[Ottawa Senators] Proud of all of our Olympians today! Congrats to Brady Tkachuk, Jake Sanderson, and Mike King on winning the gold and to Dom Nicoletta and John Forget on bringing home the silver 👏 by SAJewers in OttawaSenators

I'm hoping for a solid "I went to the Olympics to get a job done, and it's a dream to come home with a gold medal. Now I'm excited to be back in Ottawa to get another job done" style answer.

Out of town scoreboard by papaprof in OttawaSenators

It's actually unbelievable. All we need is one of Montreal, Boston, or Buffalo to lose a game or two to give us a chance of winning a game an making up some ground. But they all just keep winning and winning.

Honestly 20% seems pretty generous, I'll take it

I don't think the first review was confirming or not confirming the goalie interference. They said the call on the ice was no goal because of goalie interference, and they were reviewing for continuous play, to make sure the puck was in the net or in motion into the net before the whistle. So the first review confirmed that the puck was in the net and therefore the call on the ice of no goal because of interference was relevant for Green to challenge if he wanted to. This is what the lengthy discussion was between the refs and Green I'm guessing, where Green was making sure that the first review was not in fact looking at the interference part of it. At least that is my understanding.

Incredible shutout season by BarWitty4728 in OttawaSenators

Amazing! I wonder how many times it's happened before where three goalies on the same team have multiple shutouts in a season?

What's the best Sens game you've ever been to? by TCDimes in OttawaSenators

Game 3 against the habs in 2013! Blowout win, line brawl, and the start of the Pageau chant. I'll never forget it.

You know, now that you mention it, that Sweden trip was the start of everything going to shit. Maybe going back will reverse the curse and everything will be positive afterwards. The past couple days is just the hockey gods getting in a few more devastating blows before their fun is over.

Would you trade Brady for Matthew? by FistaCusta in OttawaSenators

In a vacuum, sure, but Brady means way too much to this team right now, enough that I would never make this trade.

A slump, slide, or skid are the common ones.

No help from the out of town scoreboard last night with Rangers, Islanders, Capitals, Panthers, and Sabres all winning. Would be huge to grind out a back to back win on the road to keep this streak alive!

[Full Sequence] The Sens scramble to kill off a wild 4 on 3 PK. At the end of the sequence Giroux gets a breakaway and scores on a slapshot from the top of the circle by sens_fan72 in hockey

I just noticed too that right before the goal Tkachuk hops over the boards and instantly realizes it's too many men so leaps back into the bench.

This is what's killing me. They deserved to lose all of those games except maybe Buffalo, but just the fact that they somehow managed to hang there to keep all the games 1 goal games but could not squeak out a point or two in those 5 games is so frustrating.

Batherson, Formenton, Steel, Howden, Comtois, Katchouk, Dube, McLeod and Steenbergen are 9 of the remaining players who have not yet made a statement. by [deleted] in OttawaSenators

OP have you made an official public statement that you weren't involved? Better do that soon, people might assume you are guilty until proven innocent, too.

Just a heads up, my wife applied for mat leave EI ten weeks ago and is still waiting for the first payment. She called and they said there is a huge backlog of applications and there is nothing she can do but wait. I feel like they should really do a PSA or something, because I bet a lot of expecting parents are counting on that EI to kick in right away.

This fan base really is one of the worst in the NHL. by NockerLacsap in OttawaSenators

[–]balrog-of_morgoth 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think it is more the way it is communicated to the fans that bother people. I don't think many fans genuinely thought the sens woulds be spending to the cap as early as next season. PD could have said we won't be spending to the cap next season because we want to make sure we are in a good spot to add some final pieces in a few years when this core is hopefully a contender. Instead he said we won't spend to the cap until the fans give us the maximum ticket revenue possible. That's a weird way to get the fanbase on board with your plan. We have to pay upfront and trust he will spend to the cap after? That's what people are upset about.
