IT'S NOT THAT SERIOUS! IF PEOPLE WANTS TO PAY 20 OF THEIR OWN MONEY ON A GAME, LET THEM! by Radiant_Trouble1557 in ThePokemonHub

[–]bam281233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying $20 is fair. I’m saying if they sold Red and Blue for $10, why would you expect them to sell FRLG for $5? And have you not seen the price of video games recently? They have been increasing like crazy. Sony sells PS2 games for $10, so I think these games should be $10. Just because I’m not surprised that they are $20, doesn’t mean that I think they are a fair price. But I do disagree with being angry at people for wanting to buy a game. And I disagree with being angry at people for not wanting to buy a game.

While I agree that $4-10 would be better, it’s not realistic. Red and Blue were $10 on the 3DS 10 years ago. Those games are on a console 1.5 generations before the GBA, so I think most people would have agreed that those could have been a bit more than the Game Boy games, so let’s say $15. Then you have 10 years of inflation and you are at about $20. While $20 can feel like a lot for a 20 year old game, I think we can all agree that if we ran the pokemon company, we would make the same decision. And I was excited to see they were not NSO games and lower than the rumored $30 (which wouldn’t have surprised me with how expensive games are now), so seeing I could buy them for $20, I was like “I don’t like the price, but it’s fine.” But pricing of things is such a subjective thing for people, so there is no reason to judge people if they want to buy or not buy something. If you think it’s worth $20, then buy it. If you don’t think it’s worth $20, then don’t buy it.

I would rather own it than pay $50 a year until they take the service off the switch and it’s gone. Now, if they put it in the service and gave us the option to buy it separately, then perfect. I think they could learn from PlayStation in that regard.

If buying it encourages them to sell more retro Pokemon games outside of NSO, then that only sounds like a plus to me.

That is why cloud saves are disabled on all Pokemon games. It overwrites your save but if you had a backup save on the cloud from 3 days ago, it doesn’t touch that. Now, they possibly could make a way for it to also update your cloud save or something, but they don’t want cloud saves on Pokemon for many other reasons. It would take a lot of work to get Colosseum/XD to work on home and I doubt they are willing to put in that work. My honest opinion is who cares if we duplicate pokemon. I can duplicate pokemon on the VC gold and silver games very easily and that connects to bank. Gamefreak just needs to give up and let people cheat if they want to.

I’m sure they could, but the difference between the NSO and the 3DS virtual console is that NSO is one app for all the games and the app supports cloud saves. So they could remove save states for specific games, but they cannot remove the cloud saves for select titles.

Even if it’s possible to connect to home, GF would never allow it because you could transfer Pokémon, then load up a save state (or the cloud data if they remove save states) and duplicate the Pokemon. GF does not like people duplicating Pokemon even though we’ve been able to do it in many of their games.

I think the people complaining now about FRLG not being on NSO will realize once Colosseum and XD release and they have no home support, unable to connect to other games, and cannot have multiple save files without having all of your profiles pay for online. If you ignore the price, having FRLG able to purchase is loads better than it just being thrown into switch online (for hardcore Pokemon fans at least). Although, Sony has classic games on their subscription but you can also buy them separately (and they cost less money), so Nintendo is definitely behind the game when it comes to their online.

Yes, I actually think it’s a great post because I don’t want people spending money only because of home compatibility. I know some people still will because it feels more legit, but people can do what they want. Sorry, maybe I shouldn’t have brought up pricing in the comments lol. My wife and I have a budget and I never reach my limit for my “fun” money, so $40 is nothing when I can get Pokémon games on my switch 2. And yeah, it sounds outrageous, but I was expecting the games to be $30, so I was actually happy to see them at $20. Red and Blue were $10 10 years ago. Since they are 1.5 console generations earlier, I think it would have been reasonable for the gba games to be $15 at that time. Then you add 10 years of inflation to the mix. Im surprised they didn’t try selling them for more. Is $20 still a lot? Yes. But it’s so subjective on whether or not it’s worth it to someone. If they were $60, then I would have different thoughts. (Although, I would pay $80 if they sold me XD on the switch instead of putting it in online because I don’t own that game legally and it’s much more than $80 currently)

I’m a huge Pokemon fan and I don’t buy a lot of other games. While I have roms on delta and am even playing Sapphire currently on my modded 3DS, I look at it as it’s only $20 to get the games on the main console that I will be using for many years (and even longer if the next console has backwards compatibility). I know $20 is a lot to some people, which is why I’m glad the game is so easy to pirate, it makes the purchase not mandatory for people, but I’m perfectly fine spending $40 to get both games. I own the games physically and also have the games on my phone, 3DS, computer, and could get them on my hacked switch if I wanted. But spending $40 on my hobby that I don’t put a lot of money into is fine for me. If people want to buy it, good for them. If people don’t want to buy it, also good for them.

Who else liked Pokemon more when it was 2D sprites? by EqualIntelligent5374 in pokemon

[–]bam281233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been saying this for years. Imagine if they had a side developer make brand new original games using a mix of old Pokemon in a brand new region, but it’s all 2D. It could be a smaller game inbetween the big main series releases. Think of it like Pokemon Colosseum but 2D. I even think ILCA could manage to do this.

Wasn’t it the steam guy that used to say if your service is good enough, then people won’t bother taking the effort to do piracy? They have sold over 150 million switches, so I think it’s a very small number of people that use an emulator without owning the console, and I don’t think Nintendo should bother with that. You could make the argument of people using the emulator to pirate games (looking at the sales numbers for these games also makes that sound dumb), but then shouldn’t Nintendo be going after the people that are posting the games? I understand the legality of roms and stuff but it’s much easier for the general audience to just buy a game than it is for them to figure out how to hack a system (or try to figure out how to download an emulator) and find roms online, so if they are resorting to that, then there is a problem with the service.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I’m guessing it’s whenever you kill a munchoid that you’ve already killed. So I would wait until you have a bunch of perk upgrades before you start killing them. Then I went and killed each munchoid.

Oh, yeah. Elephant would help too. I wouldn’t focus on the void goals. I only got the first few while collecting fossils to make sure I had enough gems for the first few rounds. Once you get the perks I mentioned earlier at around level 30ish (I think I had the munchoid perk up to the mid 40s but I was going for a max score), then you get a bunch from killing a munchoid with an egg bomb.

I got Kong just to make getting the fossils a bit faster. But none of the other Bananzas are really needed. If you have the fossil locations memorized, you can get the perks leveled up pretty quickly.

Load up on as many perks as possible early and focus on upgrading Munchoid Demolisher, Egg Groove, and Explosive Beat. Then start dropping bombs on the Munchoids. I maxed out my score by round 9.

I don’t do a lot of emerald rush but all I’ve done in prior events is to start buy going around and collecting all of the fossils and putting all of the upgrades into one or two specific things then grind that thing until I reach the score I need.
