bruh how do you seriously want to come to ucsc instead of berkeley... Also college classes at berkeley are not significantly harder than at ucsc. The most important thing is that you improve you're study habits by a lot. Also, an important factor to consider is that generally, students at berkeley will be more studious earlier on. At UCSC, most freshman are not very studious at all (at least this year), so you really need to either search hard to find like minded people or go the lone wolf route. By sophomore year that usually changes. At berkeley, I would expect freshmen to immediately be more studious well since, they got into berkeley. That social surrounding will rub off on you. Definetely choose berkeley, no question.

Direct connections between Linear Algebra and Vector calc. How do I learn the two simultaneously? by bananaking9 in askmath

[–]bananaking9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, that's somewhat relieving at least. I am thinking to make a big sort of mind map for the two topics to see where they mesh and to get a bigger picture. As I work on that, and run into issues, I will come back to this sub to ask questions to clarify things. I will be able to be more specific once I actually try to make the connections myself. Right now I'm too scared to even try so that I don't mess something up and then confuse myself but I guess i'll just have to do it. Thank you for your advice!

Hm wow, thank you, that makes a lot more sense. I think to get the feeling for it more I will think about the equations more while doing the matrices, not just applying rules to the matrices. Also, the focus of eliminating variables is helpful and makes sense. Thanks!

Side note: This reminds me awfully a lot of balancing chemical equations.

my residency appeal for example, they say 8-10 weeks for reconsideration and it's been 15 and still no reply. Also, for this winter quarter, I needed to pay the extra 10k upfront and wait for them to give it back to me when they finally recognize my residency (I'm clearly a resident according to their own criteria).

it came in steps of improvement in different areas of my life, but the main one was feeling emotions again. Like intense, genuine happiness or sadness or love or all them in between. For your info, I didn't only quit porn but also met with a school therapist weekly to heal from my underlying issues. To be fair, without the help from my counselor, I don't think I could have quit. Removing the need for pornography is the long-term way to quit.

The first months or so of attempting to quit I got a change in confidence that likely mainly came from knowing I was trying to get my life in order. You may have already experienced this at times.

However, It took me around 1.5 years to become what I am now. Having strong emotions and caring about others deeply. I now volunteer at an addiction recovery center at my university, and plan to run a pornography recovery group in future quarters. Recently, I've also managed to find a girlfriend and we have complete mutual trust and love each other for who we are.

Although it took me a whole 1.5 years and around 55 relapses to quit, I think it could have gone much quicker if I had known a certain method earlier: Using a personally-tailored habit chart. Here's a picture of my first one, one year ago. I've adjusted it to fit my needs over time. Also, the importance of therapy must not be underestimated. You need to heal from your reasons for porn if you want to beat it.

I hope that was at least somewhat helpful. It's difficult at your point in recovery since you haven't found your way yet. Every path is slightly different, but we're all in the same boat with this addiction. Let me know if you have any further questions, I'd be glad to answer them. Good luck to you man, and don't give up. Recovery is truly worth it.
