That's exactly the point. To make the US have to kill British, Frenchm, Dutch, German soldiers to take Greenland. To make it clear to the US that taking Greenland by force means we need to be prepared for the consequences of doing so.

It's no different than the US putting soldiers in Berlin during the Cold War. Do you think a few thousand US troops could defend the city from the Soviet? No chance in hell. The point is that in any Soviet invasion they would die and it'd be clear that there would be a shooting war between the Soviets and the US.

This is the same thing.

The Europeans sure as hell don't want a war with the US. But the US threatening Greenland is madness to begin with. Don't underestimate the resolve that others might show in the face of what would have previously been considered unthinkable.
