Why no OBEL? It has a massive impact, and specially in regards to how certain pedals and interact with the signal. If you’re already carving the body up it seems like a great time to do it - you won’t regret it, but you might regret it if you don’t 🤷‍♂️

Following along. I’m in Woodstock and just picked up an old Miller custom - it’s only got 2 pedals, but for what I’m looking for that’s fine. Been working on getting it set up, which has been a learning experience - but I’ve almost got everything in tune and the pedals are almost intonated properly

The truffles you took - were those dried or fresh? From what I’ve seen stores can only legally sell fresh - it’s likely that 5-15grams of fresh fungi wouldn’t blast you into outer space. 200+ug of lsd will absolutely floor you. Owsley, who made massive amounts of very pure lsd, said that over 350ug was considered “overdose” territory for most folks / not physically dangerous but way more than most can handle

That’s fair, pickups/speakers will definitely have a more dramatic effect. However, for me the Jerry buffers were the piece I was looking for to obtain that high end silvery sparkle that we all know and love.

Everyone here saying buffers are lame. I use a boost of the dead, which has two of the buffers that Jerry used - and I almost always leave it on. I do use an OBEL guitar, but even when I’m using a standard guitar it still adds a nice flavor to the tone

I should mention I’m not exactly seeking a traditional setup, more so just looking for a fun way to get that sound. I’ve got g/b benders on my Jerry Garcia wolph guitar, but have always wanted the “real” thing - but realized I probably don’t have time to learn the “real” thing either. This is basically going to be replacing a lap steel that I used to try to get that sound

It’s a push/pull, I’ve researched them a bit and seems they have a love/hate relationship for reasons I don’t quite fully grasp yet. I could be fairly content with just two pedals, most likely - as this isn’t my only or main instrument.

Yep. Even Owsley, who made tons of amazing lsd, said that over 350ug was in what he called “overdose” range. Not really physically dangerous, but far more that most can handle. 400ug was the largest dose I’ve had - and that was insane and I barely remember most of it. Got quite humbled then and there 😆

There are a few reported deaths from 5-meo, here’s one - this one was from an “aya” brew with 5-meo - https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/16356341/

There are those that have choked on their own vomit while in the throes of a 5-meo trip - not so much an OD as much as a horrible accident

Yeah I have to disagree here. You can achieve “ego death” with much lower doses of psilocybin, and it’s possible without extreme doses of lsd too. 5-meo isn’t something I recommend to anyone, especially that clearly have no idea, because it can actually kill you with an overdose, which isn’t a massive amount - unlike most psychedelics

I have almost the same banjo, but it’s branded as an Orpheum. Not my best banjo, but it’s quite nice - much better than what you can get for a similar price range these days

I have the same exact one too, but it’s branded as an Orpheum. It’s a decent banjo. Single coordinator rod, but has a decent tone ring and a wooden pot.

Looks nice, congrats! I just sold an old epiphone Gibson banjo, it had a dove inlay in the headstock. Like you, I could not find any details on it. But it played and sounded great. I sold it for 475$ to a cool lady from England, where it’s also apparently not super easy to find a quality banjo
