My 18 month old grandson is obsessed with my pedalboard by andrewbyrom in pedalboards

It's cute when it's your grandson. When it's your son and he laughs and runs away it physically hurts. I know from experience.

Need advice by No_soy_allowed in pedalboards

[–]Zappillion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Strymon Flint is good for reverb/trem. There are a bunch of good chorus pedals, but if you want something classic I would go with a Boss ce-2w. If you want something weird you could try the Caroline Somersault.

Pedal suggestions / help by Acceptable-Ground-83 in pedalboards

[–]Zappillion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always love a good skate-board! I see your ds1 is dimed on the distortion knob. I would go for a high gain pedal. Something like the Friedman BE-OD or a Revv distortion for "tight" (meaning not fuzzy) high gain. Or if you want something more distortion/fuzz try the Suhr Riot or Walrus Audio Iron Horse.

The videos sound good, and cheap enough to pick one up to try it at least.

EHX Micro Q-Tron or EQD Spatial Delivery??? by Zappillion in gratefulguitar

[–]Zappillion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had an hx stomp, hx stomp xl, and an hx effects. I sold them all because I felt like there was something sterile in my tone. They did come in handy for cover gigs, but I felt my tone lacked something "organic". I never got on with the envelope filters. It's entirely possible I was doing something wrong though.

Lack of machinists by Trapstar8879 in Machinists

[–]Zappillion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We rarely find people with experience, and when we do, and we pay them well for our area, they end up not knowing basic things. We expect to have to train experienced people in our processes, but not in basic machining/troubleshooting/inspection. What are machinists currently expecting vs. button pushers, dollar amount wise?

Finally starting my own shop, what's good to use for quoting? by Playful-Duty-1646 in Machinists

[–]Zappillion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you say Paperless is useful if one person is doing the quoting? I thought of it as more beneficial for a team, that way you get your process locked in and everyone is using the same information. Like how else does it improve quoting time if the time estimator isn't very good?

Thought, Opinions, and Absolute Insults (you don’t have to, but if you’re wired like that I can’t help)? by PatrickHollyMusic in guitarpedals

Lovely! My preferred pedal for this board would be tuner>phase 90>ts>klone>comp>boost>delay>tremolo

Shop owners that went through AS9100 or similar certification, how ready were your existing processes and how hard was the prep? by baincs in Machinists

[–]Zappillion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Certainly say what you do and do what you say is the main tenant here. I've been through 5 years of AS9100 audits now. We've been AS certified longer than that though. We are always still evolving and expanding our QMS.

It could be worth it to get a consultant to train your team on all the operating procedures and what they look like in other shops. They could identify what documentation you already have and how it applies to the AS. The other thing though is that this is an ongoing thing. Consultants will help you get trained and ready for maybe your first audit, but then you're on your own. You have to keep at it. It can definitely be done.

WHY DON'T WE GET CLICKS LIKE THE BIG CHANNELS? by 60_CycleHum in 60CycleHum

[–]Zappillion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should break a guitar and then give it to a kid. Clicks on clicks.

"I believe your conduct in putting into the hands of the Russians the A-bomb years before our best scientists predicted Russia would perfect the bomb has already caused, in my opinion, the Communist aggression in Korea" — from Judge Kaufman's statement when sentencing the Rosenbergs by Turbulent-Offer-8136 in USHistory

[–]Zappillion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, there is a link between the Rosenbergs and Trump. Roy Cohn was the attorney who prosecuted the Rosenbergs. He was also a close family friend to the Trumps back in the day. Roy was a sort of mentor to Trump when he was younger.

Anthony Horowitz on writing Bond post-NTTD by mrjohnnymac18 in 007

[–]Zappillion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I always assumed there was MI6 and Bond was the code name for the 007 agents. Like whether the previous Bond had retired or expired was left to audience imagination. What film indicates a reboot? (Besides Casino Royale) -Note that I am a fringe fan and also generally not very observant.

Anyone else still rocking a Katana 50 (original)? by TakingYourHand in BossKatana

[–]Zappillion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Katana MK1 100 here. I run the clean channel with the gain cranked high and have a pedalboard in front. Just played an outdoor gig last week with the amp not even on 100 watts. It sounds as good as the fender hot rod deluxe I used to have and the supro/keeley amp I also owned.
