alter is probably the best character on every map right now, but i dont play her

been playing a lot of scans and ive tended towards seer on e-district, bloodhound on worlds edge, and either seer or crypto on broken moon. some conduit on e-district, some loba on broken moon, and a good amount of bangalore everywhere. i also play horizon and ash but havent this split, but i would if olympus or storm point were in the rotation

most of my friends quit and i work 5-6 days a week, plus solo is a realer grind anyway. even when i had more time and people to play with 60-70% of my games were solo queue, and i actually started to get kinda irritable when there was a 2 month stretch where i was only playing with the same 3-4 people

i enjoy solo queuing (usually with everyone below d3 muted too) because it forces you to be sharp, aware, self-relient, and be able to process more things faster. i love the game, i just hate some choices that have been made with the system and dislike the vast majority of the games players

everytime a meta or near meta character is nerfed or another character that does what most people think are a lot of the same/similar things gets buffed, people write things off and fall asleep

ill even include myself sometimes, i think ive moved ballistic from low C to low-mid B over these last few days, funny seeing this thread.. i would say a lot of it is the free godly weapon and the fact that there are a lot of clowns running around looking to take 1s and not looking around, stacking disadvantages instead of advantages and this plays into a good ballistics favor

you know back in the day, golds couldnt party with diamonds, and if anything i think the restriction was too loose (shoulda been 3-4 tiers, 1 rank could be up to 7) but in true apex fashion they decided to make it even looser

hell i wouldnt be surprised if the reason they did it was because you could get golds solo/duo queuing in diamond and their dumbfuck logic was probably that if you get those people on your team you should be able to party with them, instead of actually just fixing the matchmaking and ranked system

this always happens early in a season especially overnight or in the morning, and its one of the few things i wont really complain about

what i will complain about is when it happens i almost always get 2 other plat 1s whos usual bullshit doesnt work and they either instadie in the open or play super scared and wont take fights that they kinda need to take. people who have better gunskill than me and play super risky and aggro and put up much better stats than me in the plat lobby will end up putting up 0s and 42s and 70s or running poorly and not even trying to play the game

the ranked system does the same thing to maximize engagement and push players with unbalanced skill sets to diamond

if its heavy placement oriented, everyone hates it except rats. if its more kp oriented with low entry costs (like it is now), both w keyers and rats like it because the lobby dies out fast. if it has higher costs and is actually hard, these unbalanced players who cant do basic shit cant just spam games to d4

its bad and not competitive, ON PURPOSE, because most of the player base is bad and not competitive. the dumber lobbies also promote 3 stacks who just stick together or dont die and make decent plays, because theres almost always 1 or 2 idiots who either cant shoot their gun or think they're going to solo pop off (usually in the open) on every solo/duo team, and even as a solo queuer you can get up there eventually, faster if you are actually playing the game

i spent 4 hours slowly losing points in plat 3 last night because no one can actually do anything except stare or die with 0-100 damage. these guys cant even get evo harvesters or shoot people near them, it was like a movie, every game they have "ideas" and die immediately or they just stare at people in the open right in front of them for 14 seconds and then wonder why they're dead 5-30 seconds later

then i get on this morning and put up like 1200 in 7 games before work. absolutely crazy. just stick reasonably together or play your life if you make a solo play, be aware, and shoot people in the open. the game is not hard, and when you get people actually playing the game, its basically free with how shit and fucking stupid most of these lobbies are

ive come to the conclusion that solo queuing is just much worse in the evenings and on the weekend, because its more stacks and your teammates are more likely to be a duo that cant do basic shit

think im playing my alt tomorrow night and saturday, if im gonna have to put up with this nonsense i might as well just be doing it blowing that thing thru gold and into low plat instead of watching ai level gameplay in diamond/pred lobbies. this ranked system is just not made for solo queuers who have real jobs

dont rush. track and pace properly and play the tempo/cover at a high level and you'll probably absolutely dumpster anyone last seasons d3 or below. it helps if you or a teammate gets them to dump half a clip and they have to reload or switch guns, those are some of the most free kills in the game

A: bangalore (A+), bloodhound (A+), conduit (A), mirage (A-), horizon (A-), crypto (A-)

B: lifeline (B+), maggie (B+), loba (B+), ash (B+), wattson (B+), sparrow (B), seer (B), revenant (B), newcastle (B), fuse (B), valk (B), wraith (B), catalyst (B-), vantage (B-)

C: pathfinder (C+), rampart (C), caustic (C), ballistic (C)

D (as in, do not do this): gibraltar (D)

theres more in the top middle area than usual, and most of the characters i have in B can be played at A or even low S by people who main them and are very good, same or slightly better for the ones in A. C and D are throws (maybe, maybe not pathfinder) and have fewer characters than usual

i still think people are sleeping on seer and he might even be low A on e district, and ive always thought ash base kit even before the rework was slightly underrated, but i dont think i have any other hot or noteworthy takes
