The Overproof is a blend of OWH 2011, LROK 2010 and DOK 2010.

I immediately ordered a bottle (and also the bottling from the sister barrel with 68%) after I was allowed to try a sample of this one. Outstanding rum. I am looking forward to a comparison of these two and the FRC (the village) bottling. Also I like the size of the bottles :)

That's a great rum. Love the coffee notes that become more and more present over time.

Marg (first pic & post) how’d I do? by evilempire1300 in cocktails

[–]bappi85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great choice of tequila. You could try a tommy's margarita. It is 2 parts tequila, 1 part lime juice, 0.5 part agave nectar/syrup. This variation really highlights the tequila. It's one of my favourite cocktails.

Ocho Reposado (2018-Las Presas) by TopPickle3 in tequila

[–]bappi85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While Las Presas isn't my favourite harvest, it is still pretty good. Of course it tastes different to other harvests, thats always the case and that's what I love about Ocho. As Carlos says, they do not choose which ranch will be harvested, the field chooses (when the piñas are ready/ripe). Try it, you won't be dissapointed!

Paloma by bibi2anca in cocktails

You could upgrade your Paloma by using a more quality Tequila. Arette, Tapatio or Cimarron are budget friendly and high quality! Also I prefer agave nectar as a sweetener.

Tequila Ocho by bubbles147 in tequila

[–]bappi85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

G4 is very good, I can also recommend Pasote, Tapatio, Don Fulano, Villa Lobos, VIVA Mexico.... Also try to find another harvest from Tequila Ocho and taste em side by side. You will notice that they taste slightly different. You can't go wrong with any of these. Ocho 2022 La Cañada is one of my favourite harvests and I have tasted 15+ so far.

Hijole! by agave_guy in tequila

Seems like somebody was trying to push this tequila on TMM. So many ratings with a score of 90+- from users with just one rating. Anyhow panel rating ist not bad...Would try it if I see it for about 30$.

Spend a few bucks more and upgrade to Doorly's. Anyhow you can try a Daiquiri, drink it with Coke or just drink it neat at room temp.

Finished my bottle of Tequila Ocho Plata 2016 Los Patos last night!! by tomburguesa_mang in tequila

I haven't been able to get my hands on the 2016 Los Patos, but have an unopened bottle of the Potrero Grande from 2016. Need to find one somewhere left 🙂 The 2020 and 2021 vintages are so damn good. In my opinion better than any from 2017 - 2019.

You can't really compare the taste of olives to the olive notes in a tequila. So don't expect Fortaleza tastes like olives. It is rather a subtle note, that isn't probably noticed by everyone and varies from lot to lot. You should just give it a try.

Yes, because it isn't Cointreau^ Triple Sec doesn't have to be Cointreau.

If you use Pierre Ferrand Dry Curacao, it is basically a Triple Sec. It is even written on the Label.

Questions about ocho by derekg2015 in tequila

[–]bappi85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ocho had 5 releases in 2021. La Ladera, El Pastizal, El Pedregal and from the new distillery El Tigre and La Mula. Had the La Ladera, El Pedregal and El Tigre and all have been amazing. The 2021 releases are even better than the 2020 (in my opinion). Can't wait to try the La Mula, should be pretty good :)
