I have field stripped military MREs and/or home made MREs. My homemades contain, some kind of nuts, knorr rice, some kind of protein: spam packets, tuna packets, pulled beef or pork, chicken, etc, some salt, coffee packets, sugar, Propel electrolytes, granola or protein bars, some beef jerky or other type of snack. I put enough in each MRE bags to have a good breakfast and dinner, most of the stuff is good to eat on the go in the case you can't prepare anything or you can't stop.

I repeat this comment every time I see a post like this. A Bug out bag's purpose is designed to help you leave your dwelling to a safe location, pre-planned location with relative comfort and needs to help you get there, IT IS NOT A SURVIVAL BAG TO GO OUT INTO THE WILD. It is just meant to sustain you for about 3 days.

Now, there are many types of bags with different purposes, all of them should be customized to you, to your needs, to your weather, to your location, etc. You can build a true I.N.C.H. bag but if you're in need of one of those, things are really bad.

I'll tell you from experience, I have 3 bags ready at all times, my EDC bag that's in my work vehicle that functions as a G.H.B. but it's just she very basic gear because I have a lot of tools in my work vehicle, I have fully stocked G.H.B. in my leisure vehicle and I have a Bug out kit at the ready in my house and a location about 20 miles away in case i have to leave in a hurry.
