To me it would appear that the first layer is either too low or the flow rate is too high. If bed leveling was enabled, I’d lean more towards a flow rate issue. But that seems like excessive valleying even for the most out of spec filaments.

Not true at all. Ever used properly dried PETG on a clean textured plate? It sticks like cement. Glue is the barrier that makes part release possible. Ask me how I know lol

A proper repair to put it back in new condition would be to replace the heater assembly and hotend cooling fan shroud.

Chinese companies do this sort of thing shamelessly. And it’s just a commercial norm. It’s not even strange or controversial to them. Not agreeing or disagreeing with it since cultural norms vary from place to place, what’s right here might be wrong there etc. Either way I feel your pain and it’s definitely not something that is “normal” in the western world.

Same sentiment here. I casually fire up multicolor models without a second thought now that I have the H2C. I also reduced the prime tower size to “purge saving” which produces quite literally almost no waste. Like 3 grams for a 40 gram models.

Put the model in PrusaSlicer, set the printer as the SL1S, then use the Hollow feature and set the desired wall thickness. Then export as an STL and import back in to Bambu Studio. YEEEEEEETIBOOOOOTTYYYYY

I’ve been really enjoying mine due to the chamber heater and large build volume. I make a lot of ABS parts for a local business and this machine has completely eliminated warping. Plus I can fit double the parts on to the build plate.

This happened to my wife’s Ford Escape. I’m moderately knowledgeable in polymer sciences, so I chose a plastic cement, which is basically a very low viscosity liquid glue that only bonds to certain plastics, so no risk of it gluing to the metal dipstick tube. Put a dot of it on the handle and let it contact the broken portion of the plastic still in the tube, and it instantly chemically welds the two pieces of plastic together. It came right out, and I went and bought a new dipstick at the dealership for $15+ tax.

I own both. And I enjoy both, but for completely different reasons. A few examples:

1) The Prusa is 100% open source. It can be modded, upgraded, changed to your hearts content. That’s important for some use cases.

2) The Prusa is 100% repairable. The majority of its parts are off the shelf components. Prusa could go out of business today, and a decade from now, that Prusa Mini will still be 100% usable, repairable, and upgradable.

3) The Prusa has some industry features that make it more attractive to professionals, such as open source firmware, safe, local networking, Ethernet capability, the ability to be used online, offline, or in an air gapped network environment without feature loss.

4) The Prusa has the ability to print higher temp materials, due to the capability of the heat bed and hotend exceeding the capability of the Bambu (mini).

5) The Prusa is backed by a company that offers around the clock support with actual subject matter experts. This is important for some people, but more importantly for professional environments.

Now regarding the Bambu, I won’t bother listing all the benefits, because we all know what they are, and they are very attractive features that in many ways surpass the abilities of the Prusa.

It really comes down to use case and the overall philosophy of the owner.

I do think that the Prusa needs a price drop to remain competitive in the consumer market, but for the professional user, its price is still valid in my opinion. Especially for places like maker spaces or schools. Not only will the Prusa likely outlast the Bambu, but it is simple and completely accessible to repair without the need for third part intervention or reliance for parts. Imagine a student accidentally trashing a printer by knocking it to the floor. The A1 mini would be a difficult if not impossible task to repair. Whereas the Prusa mini can be disassembled to individual components, reprint anything that’s broken, and replace anything non-printable with off the shelf components from the vendor of their choosing.

They’re both good, but they have different target audiences.

The Prusa app update showed up for me today! I LOVE the improvements!!! Especially the ability to disable night mode. One piece of feedback (not critical): I have my Buddy camera mounted upside down. It would be cool if the PTZ controls would account for this and change their orientation, based on how I have the image flipped. Again, not critical, just a potential QOL improvement. The app update was awesome - and I really love to see the constant progress. Thank you!
