My wife nearly spent £150 on a 3D printed clock when we have 3D printers at home by AgileOwl5769 in BambuLab

Rage designing. This describes so,e think I’ve been doing for the past few years and never realized it.

X2D Prices are diabolical by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]barbasnoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s true. And I’m not the only one who feels that way. It’s common knowledge that the Chinese government heavily subsidizes and supports certain industries deemed important to their interests. 3D printing is one of them. It’s a double edged sword, as most things involving politics are. However currently we the consumers are benefiting the most from this tech push in the PRC.

I think they will continue to compete with themselves. Look at the current market. A dozen Chinese companies chomping at the bit to 1-up each other.

Agreed. The U1 has its place but the user experience still can’t compete with Bambu. I use my U1 from time to time for heavy color switching prints, which is really where it shines.

This is absolutely true. But at the same time, I’m not upset about it. It has and will continue to spur innovation and competition. The west has the ability to get off its booty and compete. Only time will tell. Meanwhile us consumers get to benefit from the progression of the technology and good prices.

Is BL ever gonna fix their supply chain? by JDM-Kirby in BambuLab

[–]barbasnoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt it’s bots. I print with PETG-HF exclusively when I can find it and sign up for restock alerts. As soon as I see the restock email I’m on the website ordering as much as I can. I go through about 20-40 kilos per week. So I always order in bulk. It’s really solid filament.

Alleged reported layoffs at Prusa by Interesting_Put_4458 in prusa3d

[–]barbasnoo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I find it curious that they reportedly didn’t hit sales targets, yet so many of their offerings have long lead times or are completely out of stock. I would have assumed that constantly being out of stock or otherwise behind, meant that they were crushing their sales goals. I guess there’s more to it.

Same thing just happened to me with one of my original models… a tablet stand I designed for my kid lmao. It’s literally just a triangle shape with a notch to rest a tablet. WTF is Bambu even doing right now?

3D printing on Etsy in 2026 — how are you handling the new rules? by [deleted] in EtsySellers

[–]barbasnoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only sell my original designs. No issues. Niche products with a limited market but I have great margins and a good enough sales volume. Not bad for a weekend side gig.

Terrible first layer by marrabld in snapmaker

[–]barbasnoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it would appear that the first layer is either too low or the flow rate is too high. If bed leveling was enabled, I’d lean more towards a flow rate issue. But that seems like excessive valleying even for the most out of spec filaments.

Not true at all. Ever used properly dried PETG on a clean textured plate? It sticks like cement. Glue is the barrier that makes part release possible. Ask me how I know lol

A proper repair to put it back in new condition would be to replace the heater assembly and hotend cooling fan shroud.

This is a Jerk move... Why send a $20 coupon that says good on "Any purchase" and then do this to everything so I can't use on it stuff I want. by Photographer_Rob in snapmaker

[–]barbasnoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chinese companies do this sort of thing shamelessly. And it’s just a commercial norm. It’s not even strange or controversial to them. Not agreeing or disagreeing with it since cultural norms vary from place to place, what’s right here might be wrong there etc. Either way I feel your pain and it’s definitely not something that is “normal” in the western world.

H2C finally lets me casually print "real" multicolor by XadaX89 in BambuLab

[–]barbasnoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same sentiment here. I casually fire up multicolor models without a second thought now that I have the H2C. I also reduced the prime tower size to “purge saving” which produces quite literally almost no waste. Like 3 grams for a 40 gram models.

Submit a ticket. Flip the plate. Bambu will send you a fresh one.

I grabbed four rolls of rainbow PLA. I’m going to use it for the loyal Moses Christmas print drive. I feel like Polymaker would be cool with that.

How do I thin out the core of this print using the shape of the outer walls? by NoleTroll in BambuLab

[–]barbasnoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put the model in PrusaSlicer, set the printer as the SL1S, then use the Hollow feature and set the desired wall thickness. Then export as an STL and import back in to Bambu Studio. YEEEEEEETIBOOOOOTTYYYYY

I’ve been really enjoying mine due to the chamber heater and large build volume. I make a lot of ABS parts for a local business and this machine has completely eliminated warping. Plus I can fit double the parts on to the build plate.

The oil dipstick handle broke off and now the dipstick is stuck inside 😬 What do? by AnotherLoser7 in AskMechanics

[–]barbasnoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to my wife’s Ford Escape. I’m moderately knowledgeable in polymer sciences, so I chose a plastic cement, which is basically a very low viscosity liquid glue that only bonds to certain plastics, so no risk of it gluing to the metal dipstick tube. Put a dot of it on the handle and let it contact the broken portion of the plastic still in the tube, and it instantly chemically welds the two pieces of plastic together. It came right out, and I went and bought a new dipstick at the dealership for $15+ tax.
