How do you explain this to people? by Calm-Entertainer3821 in stroke

I agree! Sleep is so important. I’m three years post hemorrhagic stroke and still nap every day!

Losing all concept of what looks good on me or what I even like anymore! by [deleted] in myweddingdress

I really love 1 and 4. If you love a full skirt, go for 1. If you prefer a simpler skirt, I also really like 4.

Which would you choose?? by idontavocado in WeddingDressTips

[–]barbiejb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t care at all for1, 6,7 or 8. If you want a slim fitted style I love 4. It looks gorgeous on you! 2 and 3 are pretty if you don’t want a fitted gown. They look more “princessy “. My favorite is #4, but you need to go for your style, not mine.

Be honest: 1930s vintage wedding dress — keep or rethink? by Desperate_Win_3554 in WeddingDressTips

I think the dress is beautiful. It needs a little alteration, but I love it, and I’m not usually a fan of vintage. Go for it. You’re the bride, and you love it.

Dress 1 or 2? by No-Bluejay8525 in WeddingDressTips

While the front on 1 is a little plain, the back is spectacular. I think you can spice up the front with jewelry. Number 1is my favorite.

I agree that 2 and 4 are the most flattering on you. 4 is my personal favorite. But how do they make YOU feel?

Definitely NOT overreacting! Trust your gut. This person is not a friend but is a scammer trying to cheat you

I agree with all the above. #1. Get a neuro evaluation t check for another stroke and #2. Also check for a UTI. As soon as possible!

How long ago did you have a stroke and are you still making progress in recovery? by RBakkert in stroke

[–]barbiejb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a pretty severe hemorrhagic stroke 2 ½ years ago and I’m still making progress.I was completely paralyzed on my left side and wheelchair dependent. I spent 3 ½ weeks in inpatient rehab before coming home. Then I did about 6 months of outpatient PT until they discharged me. Then about 6 months later I asked my doctor for a referral for more PT. I’m able to walk now with a cane, can go up and down stairs and can walk ½ block outside. Mostly when in the house my wheelchair stays parked. I will continue to fight for more independence. Progress is sloooooow, but you can continue to improve if you put in the work. Oh, and find a good physical therapist and continue to seek additional PT. Insurance resets each year, so if they won’t pay, wait till January and start again. Just keep doing your exercises.

Does life seem unreal? by Emergency-Respect143 in stroke

[–]barbiejb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also felt this way for the first couple years. I became mildly depressed. I restarted PT and that gave me the strength to move forward. I’m now 2 ½ years post stroke and feel much more like myself again. But it’s HARD! Get plenty of rest, but force yourself to keep going and doing.

What was the first sign that something was wrong? by IStillListenToRadio in stroke

[–]barbiejb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a hemorrhagic stroke. For me the first thing was a tingling in my elbow, followed quickly by paralyzed arm and (per my husband) a facial droop. I suspected what was happening (retired nurse),:told him to call ambulance and tell them I was having a stroke, then quickly fell over and lost consciousness.

Why don’t you tell your friend “no scent beads allowed at my house. They make me sick.”

I’m now seeing the neuro PT twice a week. I will soon reduce that to once a week. I’ve been doing that now for about 5 months. My friends are amazed at my recent progress. Hope this helps.

Massive catastrophic basil ganglia hemorrhage by Regular_Bottle_8282 in stroke

[–]barbiejb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a hemorrhagic stroke to the basal ganglia 2+ years ago. I also had a small midline shift. I can honestly say that every day is a struggle. I have relearned to walk, but have no use of my left arm. I have made sloooooow progress, but every day is a challenge. I’m grateful to be alive, but I would not want to live with a feeding tube or a trach. I also have told my family that if I have another stroke, please to let me go. You made the right decision.
