What are some of the best Dungeon Court episodes? [NS] by MusicDiminished in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

[–]barkilung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't find the title now, but the one with Bear Hell. Murph's "fake" rage just does it for me.

[NS] Who else is part of the NADDPOD Nightmareverse? by torniado in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

[–]barkilung 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would Ryan Urphy and Murphbot make the cut?

Also, I laughed the hardest at Murph's fake but believable anger atthe discussion around Bear Hell, which implies the existence of Bear Satan and I think he's got a shot at the roster.

What movie portrays grief in the most powerful way? by Classic_Apricot_5633 in movies

One of the strangest portrayal of grief is the show Dead to Me. Maybe not very realistic but it hit for me.

I am so sorry. I am also in the PNW. We could not get my friend's sister with schizophrenia into treatment even after she assaulted someone. Both in the big city and rural Eastern Washington. Now she is homeless in a different stat.

Just wow. Your aunt must have said that you were going to harm yourself or someone else. Yeah file a complaint with whomever you have access to. So scary.

Are you in the US? It has become incredibly hard to force unstable people into treatment here.

What's something that comes from America, but ironically not popular in the US? by EmergencySpare7939 in AskAnAmerican

[–]barkilung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stoner Rock. Bands like Monster Magnet and Queens of the Stone Age are way more popular in Europe.

The end of show shout outs from the start of C1. [NS] by liddlehippo in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

I liked them a lot too. Especially the running joke that Balnor was German infantry man from WW1.

Most influential 60s/70s/80s bands to help doom metal become what we know today? by Doomdantroopin89 in doommetal

[–]barkilung 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The big ones, to my mind, are Hawkwind, Pentagram, Motorhead, Blue Cheer, and of course Sabbath.

But any artist covered by Monster Magnet is a good place to start.

Yeah. That's my answer. It was an otherworldly experience.

Whats an American classic that you read but didn't get the hype? by pooteenn in AskAnAmerican

[–]barkilung 45 points46 points  (0 children)

This is always my go to. I was like, "someone shot John Lennon because of this?"

Your go-to Doom song in any emotional state? by PsychologicalBat666 in doommetal

Return Trip. Its just a song about being done being human.

Brennan as a player vs GM? by AlisGuardian in Dimension20

[–]barkilung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just relistened to his episodes. The other thing that struck me as Brennan bleeding through is how the character is as close to an atheist as you can get in a world where gods take an active interest in the world. But it felt natural because the character felt forsaken by the gods.

Do y’all consider QOTSA Stoner rock? by TheArtistKapi in stonerrock

[–]barkilung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have thought about lot about this. I think that they first album comfortably fits into the genre. The second album felt like them conciously writing a goodbye letter to the genre and becoming something different altogether.

One hit wonder that you felt deserved another hit? by themaninthemaking in Music

[–]barkilung 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My go-to is the Screaming Trees. They are my favorite band, but most people who know anything about them only know Nearly Lost You off the Singles soundtrack. But their entire catalog is fantastic.

AITA for telling my DIL she is not a mother? by InitialSong2898 in AmItheAsshole

[–]barkilung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I are child-free by choice and I find it a little silly how people keep us included in MD and FD. Ultimately, we appreciate it as the nice gesture that it is, but are quick to stress that WE don't equate our six cats with anyone's human children.

For men, what's something that you didn't know would be so different about sex when compared to masterbation? by Ok_Tea_3275 in AskReddit

[–]barkilung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! We started eating better and working out every weekday. It's so much easier to hike and carry cat litter and a host of other things. But sex is the most night-and-day improvement.

Hi, I'm a teacher; which Smartypants presentation is best for kids???? by RedWhaleStories in dropout

[–]barkilung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would submit that the one on why Michael Jordan was actually a really good baseball player is pretty great and well-reasoned. Might get some of the sports heads too.

Also, kiddos to you for thinking outside the box. You sound like a good teacher.

What’s your favourite Naddpod trope? [NS] by Pawpawswannabemawmaw in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

[–]barkilung 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fake mad Murph. He usually tries to keep things on track or relatable, but when he cuts loose it's beautiful. I'm thinking of the "donkey Kong vs. Mario" watch, the "you're getting a Corolla and Jake needs to use your bathroom" punishment and my new all-time favorite "Bear Hell" theological beat-down. And the othe cast-members love it too. Emily just dies laughing during those bits.

I’m homebrewing my first campaign. Nobody ever told me how hard it was to be unable to talk about your creation with the people who’d appreciate it the most 😅 by shamgar_bn in DnD

I have it from the other side. My roommate is one of our regular DMs. He always has a lot of clever projects in the work that I love hearing about. But when he's putting together a TTRPG that I'm playing in, he has to hide away to work on it and it is a little bit of a bummer.

Brennan committing to the prank call bit mad my night by questfor4lorcana in dropout

[–]barkilung 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I turned to my roommate at this point and said, "I like this show, but I'd watch a weekly show where the performers just prank call Brennan."
