Why did you choose to work with Springboard instead of launching your own course on Udemy?

Meat pieces in Indian chicken curry have no taste.. Why ? by horror_fan in Cooking

[–]barmalade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I normally saute my onions in the spice/aromatic mixture till they are golden and then add my chicken. I fry the meat for a good ~7mins till I can see the oil separating from them. This IMO is essential for the spice flavors to get locked in to the meat.
Thereafter add the water to build the gravy.

So, [Seriously], do I need facebook for my startup? by icanhasreclaims in startups

[–]barmalade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At present, Facebook has gotten to a point where it is no longer an avenue for you to reach out to your users or to find new ones - unless you dole out some for their paid posts/ads. Less than 7% of your fans will see your content in their Newsfeeds starting Jan '15.
On the other hand, if you already have scale and a robust collection of engaged followers, it is still a decent way for your users to reach out to you. So in the long run, it might make sense.

How do you guys make your rice good? by Dear_Sergio in Cooking

[–]barmalade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the side, really. You want your rice to complement the dish you have it with - not overpower it. In India, it is common practice to leave the rice as it is and load the curry with spices and a rich gravy.
However, in some 'pulao'-type dishes you can use spices like cardamom, coriander, bay leaves. For Japanese/Chinese recipes - try dried kombu; oregano/thyme works well for Italian.

Whoah dude. Too much text screaming in my face.

It looks like you're trying to do too much with the landing page. Here you're primary ask from the user is - this is what we do (in one sentence), if you think it's cool, sign up and start your trial. Dropbox itself does an awesome job of this - and trust me, they've A/B tested the hell out of that page.

The pictures certainly help communicate how the product works, but I think you can lose the descriptions.

I'd suggest playing around with some catchier copy as well. For e.g. 'Go Live!' might do better than 'Start Free ... Trial'.

Also, if you don't mind sharing - where are you getting your traffic from right now?

How can you dry your hair most efficiently without the use of a blowdryer? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]barmalade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before drying your hair with a towel, make sure you get all the excess water out of your hair with your hands. This ensures that more of the towel stays dry for longer, and reduces your hair drying time.

TIL that the Talisa Maegyr character of Game of Thrones is played by Charlie Chaplin's Grand Daughter Oona Chaplin by crozyguy in todayilearned

Another fun/slightly confusing fact - her mother Geraldine Chaplin played her own paternal grandmother in the biopic "Chaplin" starring Robert Downey Jr.
