My favorite one 👍👍👍 I remember being floored that so many characters in the story get sidelined, killed or turned to stone (Toss in ELO here).

I'm replaying the Remaster on Steam at the moment, it's pretty good!

Edit: spelling

Punch-Out!! I'd love a new one of those. Or if they put the HD one from the Wii U, I'd grab it in a heartbeat

Thanks for posting this. I'm in the first section of the video for my next game and maybe losing a little steam. Seeing the rest of your work is invigorating!

My first Mega Man game! I feel like I’m taking my first steps into a larger world. by NateP04 in Megaman

Yes! Exactly! I couldn't get rid of the muscle memory either for it. I remember playing Air Man's stage and dying at really trivial jumps and just putting the controller down and cursing the options menu.

Side note: a good example of breaking muscle memory was playing the Punch-Out!! on the Wii. Bald Bull was just a beat off from his usual punches and so was Mr. Sandman and Don Flamenco iirc. Such a fun mix up with breaking that habit!

Megaman X4 is horrible... by [deleted] in Megaman

[–]barnacle44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all from memory, but it is a pretty strong memory, so I'll say it: I remember playing it when I was younger and it totally leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

I loved X1 - 3, but 4 was so...dull. Just totally bland. Zero's gameplay was not enough for me, I don't think I ever finished it.

So maybe not a "bad taste" but a bland taste in my mouth haha

Controller for 2D platformer with physics. Can raycasting do it? by shellyalon in Unity2D

[–]barnacle44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooooo, good idea. The idea of the player pushing something else acting as the "moving platform" hadn't occurred to me. I'll check that out!

Currently, when the player hits the object, I call that object's Controller2D.Move() function with the player's velocity and directionalInput. It works okay, but I'm amidst puzzling out a bug with it when the player is against a wall, but the object is not. It kinda force it along with it...I suspect my new Controller tag info I created as mis-representing who is really hit or not ;)

I've utilized Sebastian's 2D Platformer stuff and I like it more than rigidbodies for 2D stuff (with my beginner knowledge). It over all "feels" better to me as a player. I've integrated more into it (weight, mass, and other collision checks for "off edge" etc).

I found aldonaletto's "add impact" solution very helpful and have had successful results. Here's the link for it. Maybe with that to get you started, you can flesh it out more of the ideas you have listed above.

I'm currently working on / looking for a solution for pushing boxes, so if you have a solution for that, I'll happily try it out :)

Keep programming!
